Does anyone have any experience with post-bac programs for people with non-CS degrees? I am looking for a formalized way to do all the requirements for admission to a CS program, either DL or in person. Thanks. SH
To what specific "requirements for admission to a CS program" are you referring? There are usually no formal educational requirements, aside from high school graduation typically, for entry to undergraduate level computer science degrees. Since you are seeking a post-baccalaureate degree, you obviously have an undergraduate degree already. This should make your application and admission to an undergraduate computer science degree easier. On the other hand, if you are really talking about graduate degrees in computer science, then the formal requirements become somewhat more strictly defined. Are there any specific computer science programmes in which you are interested? We are offer better advise and/or opinions with additional information. In the meantime, Acadia University offers a certificate in computer science, albeit expensive for foreign students, that would provide a solid foundation.
You may wish to look at the bridge programs at schools that provide graduate level degrees. Nova, I believe, has a set of requirements to join their CS/CIS Master's program which they offer online. Also, the University of London has a diploma program that you may be interested in, although I am not sure it is a graduate level program. Also, the University of Illinois UC has a few certificate programs that may be of interest, although, I think they may require prerequisites.
Most Master of IT programs will take a non-computer science graduate. I think is better for you to take a Master's in IT rather than a post bachelors certificate or diploma in Computer Science. The same work but you get a Master's instead. Most Master's of IT programs are really computer science undergraduate courses repackaged as Master's courses.
