since the BPPVE has sunset, guess who has her business located in Beverly Hills, CA? Yep - Asher and the American World University now is located in Beverly Hills. I have emailed the powers to be informing them of this. CA better get the new agency up and running before more businesses such as this one get established there. Any of you living in CA should raise the roof about such things happening. sickening....:(

oh, while i got this on the screen, Columbus University that was accredited by the WAUC has moved to Alabama and ditched the WAUC. Madison University dropped it too. With Columbus U getting approval to operate in Alabama is really scaring me. Either they have actually beefed up their programs to have quality (but i wouldn't think it happened) which means that Alabama'a approval is not what it is cracked up to be. But to be fair, I have never attended that school (CU) so I don't know about the academic quality and can only make an educated guess from the number of degrees they offer and the time lines given to complete the degrees and extremely low tuition rates, it is not a very good place to get an education. BOO to the Alabama approval board if they let this one slip. I don't know what's up with Madison U. I thought they were going to try to makie a bona fide effort at providing a quality program and go for a different accreditation, as I suggested to them the NAPNCS. They looked into it but did not pursue. NAPNCS' standards must be way too high for them. But at least MU isn't associated with the WAUC now. Danged I wished we had national standards for all schools to be evaluated by. Then we would not have this mess going on.

AWU has always been run by Dr. Asher from California. The significant difference is that she can now do so publicly.

As I understand it, there never has been an Alabama "approval" process. The legislature, in its wisdom, mandated that a pretty much automatic non-evaluative state license be called "state approval."

Hopefully California will get its (brown anal extrusions) together before too many more months pass. How long has the BPPVE been moribund now? Going on a year, I think.

I wonder what's happend to the BPPVE's staff? Have they been laid off? Have they been reassigned to other tasks in the Dept. of Consumer Affairs?

My worry is that the longer this regulatory interregnum lasts, the more difficult it's going to be to get a new regulatory body up and running effectively. Necessary experience and expertise will be lost and will be difficult to replace quickly. Just assigning a bunch of neophytes with no clue about education to perform these approval tasks isn't going to turn out very well.

    Hi Bill

I emailed the contact on the BPPVE/Consumer Affairs Department concerning the AWU and I received a computer generated response from the BPPVE agency stating that he or she will be out of the office until July 1, 2008 and will reply within four weeks. I find this very disappointing that CA is allowing an opportunity for the mills to move in. I hope the folks in CA contact their government officials to get the process moving faster. This is definetly a move backwards instead of forward. My question is the Tuition Recovery for students in CA applicable when they enroll in businesses such as the AWU?

    Hi Dr. B

I thought Asher had a PO Box in MS for the AWU? It was just recently she changed the address on the webpage to Beverly Hills after the BBPVE sunset. Anyway, it is sickening to see this going on.

A little dose of your own medicine would be appropriate here.

It would appear Alabama's spelling is not what it's cracked up to be, either.
