OK then. The Red Sox have the second best record in the American League (and the best in the East). Bruce - when we finally get around to that pick up game, I want this woman on MY team. http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1214079362/Kinda_Hot_Ball_Girl_Makes_an_Unbelievable_Catch
Yeah, but can she hit? Remember the great glove/no hit outfielders of Red Sox past? Damon Buford, Darren Lewis, Dwayne Hosey, Shane Mack, Michael Coleman.....oh great, now I have a headache......
Dragging this kicking & screaming back on-topic....... Curt Schilling had successful shoulder surgery, but at age 41 may well have thrown his last pitch in the Majors. Does he make the Hall of Fame? I believe he should, based on not only his numbers beyond wins (strikeout ratio, walks per 9IP, etc.) but his incredible postseason performances.
OK, maybe it's fake. But she can still be on my team. Even if it's a stunt she's still more athletic than most of the guys I know. At this moment Boston is only half a game out of first place in the AL East. Tampa will fade. They're playing waaay over their heads. The Yanks will not make the playoffs because their pitching won't hold up. Ortiz will be back soon, Manny is playing for a contract and I think the Sox are going to have a BIG second half.
I agree...Tampa Bay is doing it with smoke and mirrors. They can't keep it up much longer. Boston talk radio is eviscerating Manny for whining about his contract and coming up with a mystery injury for the Seattle series. I say "who cares"? You could light him on fire and he'll still produce 30HR and 120RBI every year. Justin Masterson looked awesome tonight; I think he's the equivalent of a great mid-season pickup who can eat up middle innings when the starting pitcher stumbles. Middle relief has been a sore spot for the Sox this year, but it looks like they've plugged a big hole with Masterson.
I thought firing Willie Randolph was a bad, bad decision but in retrospect it looks like the best move of the year.
Update: There are not that many games left and Tampa is still right up there. Those boys are playing top notch ball. I thought they'd fade but it seems that I was wrong (again). If you're going to dis a team then I guess you should make a point of giving them their props when they've proven that they deserve them.
I still don't think they can keep it up until the end of the season. If they do take the AL East or the wildcard, I'll be the first to congratulate them.
Tampa continues to top the AL East. With 30+ games to play, and being 4.5 games behind the Rays, the Sox have to play some top notch ball if they want to win their division. I think they can do it. They've proven that they can win in the clutch. Also, we might still watch for a last minute stumble from the Rays. Regardless of the outcome I think it will be close.
Okay, I will now spit the crow out of my mouth, and say it; CONGRATULATIONS TAMPA BAY!!! Too bad Daisuke Matsuzaka shut you down tonight and you lost Game 1 of the ALCS.
Congratulations to the Phillies and their fans for a most impressive World Series win! It also looks like only one of my predictions came true (the Yankees going nowhere). Which is good enough for me as a Boston fan! Time to let this thread begin its descent to the bottom.
