I would not be so quick to reject the U of Phoenix Dubai Campus MBA. There may be good reasons for attending there - local teachers/experts, area business considerations, language, access, paperwork, employer considerations, local fees, citizenship of your friend, etc.
I agree there are more prestigous MBAs but what is the best for your friend?

Blekinge Institute of Technology - School of Management

Blekinge Institute of Technology offers an MBA completely delivered online except the final comprehensive examination that is written in Sweden. There is no cost for tuition, but the student pays for any course materials, Internet access, and of course travel and accommodations in Sweden when writing the final comprehensive examination.

Didn't a Degreeinfo regular detail his (or her?) experience applying to and eventually being accepted into this program? If that individual is still around, how are things going?

Out of all of these schools that are listed in this thread, world wide, which one is the most sought after prestigious one?

Slowly. I'm still in my first class, and I have to admit, I'm finding the pacing to be very odd - I've had several multi-week stretches with no assignments, and nearly 50% of the total points for the course are earned in the last week of the course (a case project and the final). I spoke with an ECU MBA student, and apparently this sort of pacing isn't unusual. The material is interesting, but I'm cruising along and maintaining a close to 100% average without much work. Crunch time (project and finals) starts tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.

Pick any one of: Duke, Cornell-Queens, or Indiana. Florida is close, but not quite at the same level. Not that anyone will sneeze at a Warrington MBA.

I'm obviously biased, but I will point out that Duke sets itself apart by offering three different EMBA programs geared towards professionals with different needs. They all use a version of the "place and space" modality that Fuqua prides itself on, but each attracts a different student:

Cross-Continent MBA: Best for the up-and-coming high-potential individuals with three to six years of experience, three international residencies provide depth and context. Program includes one two-week and seven one-week residencies that are spaced roughly every ten weeks.

Weekend Executive MBA: Especially good for folks with five to ten years of experience and those who are local to the Triangle area (although many WEMBA students commute from all over the world). The most cost-effective Fuqua EMBA option. Gets to go to more Fuqua Fridays than any other EMBA program. :D

Global Executive: For executive managers with ten to fifteen years of experience. Residencies are long (five two week residencies, including three international terms) and intense. Most expensive Fuqua EMBA program.

And if you're Europe-based, the Duke Goethe program is similar to the CCMBA, but delivered in partnership with the Goethe Business School of Frankfurt University. The Goethe and CCMBA program interact several times over the course of the program, and actually share the same commencement exercise. Similar to the Cornell-Queens program, Goethe students actually earn two MBA degrees, one from each school.

I'm well aware of the big knock on the Duke program. It is expensive. However, for what you pay, you get to learn from some of the top researchers in the business world and interact with some of the most motivated and talented EMBA students in the world. In my class at Fuqua, we had upper level managers for Fortune 500 companies like IBM, DuPont, Walt Disney, J&J, and P&G, as well as talented entrepreneurs, military officers, consultants, hedge fund managers, and energy traders. My interactions with these individuals added an extra dimension and depth to my studies. Was it worth ~$90K? Is it worth $100K+ for people considering the program now? Only time will tell, but I suspect that over a lifetime the experience will more than pay for itself. Both my wife and I are less than two years out of the program (I'm CCMBA '07, she's CCMBA '06), and we've both seen salary increases of over 50% (she's actually seen nearly 100%!) since starting the program. At this point, if we had it to do over again, I'm pretty sure we'd do everything exactly that same way.

To include European schools, add Imperial to that list.

  18. Good stuff. Question - are all the programs EMBAs or is the CCMBA a full-credit program? One reason I'm liking Indiana's program is that it is a 48-credit program, so it covers all of the bases solidly. I also like the dual-degree options which tie in nicely. Having said that, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Duke degree either :)

The CCMBA is an EMBA program. However, CCMBA students are a lot more like Fuqua's full-time MBA students in terms of age and experience than they are like students in the other EMBA programs. That is to say that they're younger and they have less experience. However, the program is lumped with the EMBA programs in terms of management. Classes (except for overseas residencies) are run at the Thomas Center (Fuqua's self-contained conference center, donated by and named for Wendy's founder Dave Thomas), the same as the other EMBA programs. I should point out that Fuqua only awards a single MBA degree, the program differences are more about delivery than content. The CCMBA program is 48 credit hours, which breaks down into 15 courses and a capstone business simulation. I don't think the WEMBA and GEMBA programs are exactly 48 credits, but they're in the same neighborhood. By comparison, a Fuqua MBA in the Daytime program will earn 79 credits over the course of two years.
