Has anyone heard any rumors that CCU (CalCoast.edu) and CSU (CalSouthern.edu) [formerly SCUps] merging in October?

I apologize; that didn't contribute to the thread. I'm reviewing calculus (yes, on a Friday night) and it heavily colors what I see.

Just to elaborate further, a fellow CCU student advised me of something she found curious.

Both websites (calsouthern.edu & calcoast.edu) are either down or under some kind of construction, plus they're both located in Santa Ana, and CCU was reportedly looking for larger quarters.

Coincidence perhaps, but she asked me and I didn't have a clue so I'm asking others too.

    CCU + CSU = 3D's ?

D = Dovers (CCU has one dover in their logo, CSU has two dovers).

If they are merged together, then their new logo should have 3 dovers? :p

IMO rather than speculating and engaging in conjecture it would be wiser to contact the administration of CCU and asking them directly. The fact that you are an alumni of CCU provides you with the basis for making such an inquiry. Please let us know what you find out.

I was able to determine from both CCU and the "new and improved" CSU that the confusion over the the possible merger was due in part to not only the name change but that CSU has applied for DETC accreditation and that their new name, program requirements, and increased tuition rates reflect their quest for DETC approval.

At the same time, CCU has apparently submitted a few new programs (Psy.D included) to the DETC for approval and that their requirements essential mirror CSU's and were submitted in and around the same time.

According to counselors that I spoke to today from both CSU and CCU they are both are anticipating word from the DETC in January 2008.

I sent an inquiry over to Cal Southern today asking them if they had applied to the DETC and Lorrie (admissions) said that they haven't applied. She said they are still considering which accreditation route to take.

I got with DETC directly and I was advised that CSU had not applied and that at present they (DETC) will only consider approving DBA or Ed.D programs so my hopes to have either CSU's current or CCU's older Psy.D program accredited are shot to hell.

    Oh well. :(

I just thought it might be fun to do the program; I don't need it I just thought I would find the challenge (and lower cost option) something to keep me going.

My understanding after talking with a faculty member a couple of months ago is that CCU is working on an Ed.D. program.
