I guess "low cost" is relative.

I have been enjoying my studies with CalU and I would recommend it to people who are interested in continuing with their higher education degree. The design of the classes and the structure of the school allow each student to focus on the best way for them to learn based on time and style. Because of a six-week course format it is a heavy load for full-time working learners. Study guide for each course is very carefully prepared by CalU faculty which I did not see this feature when was enrolling in a PhD program at NCU. I believe CIU offers the lowest tuition for all of its on-line accredited programs in the USA. In addition, the school normally grants tuition scholarship once for every academic year.

Thanks for all of your work! I agree, "low cost" is relevant and correlated with quality. Anyway, when 4:30 PM rolls around, (happy hour) I'll do some research on your post/listings and see what looks good.

Since everybody on this board probably has different incomes, I guess I'll allow each individual to decide for themselves which programs seem low enough cost to them.

Case Western Reserve University www.cwru.edu offers an Exwcutive DM based on one four-day and three three-day residencies per semester. Tuition for this 54-hr. program is currently $45,000/year, for a total of $135,000 for the three-year program. They are accredited by the North Central Association and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

 

From the Great State of Oregon

George Fox University www.georgefox.edu offers the DBA Management and the DBA Marketing online. At $700/hr., these 56-hr. programs cost $39,200. They are accredited by the Northwest Commision.

 

From the Great State of South Dakota

Dakota State University www.dsu.edu offers the DSc in Iformation Systems online (with the MS in Information Systems awarded in passing). At $337.05/hr., this 88-hr. program costs $29,660.40. They are accredited by the North Central Association and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

 

From the Great State of Virginia

The University of Management and Technology www.umtweb.edu offers the DBA Acquision Management and the DBA Project Management online. At $390/hr., these 60-hr. programs cost $23,400. They are accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council.

Regent University www.regent.edu offers the DSL (Strategic Leadership and the) PhD Organizational Leadership with concentrations in Entrepreneurial Leadership, Global Leadership, Human Resource Development, Organizational Leadership, and University Teaching and Research online. At $900/hr., these 60-hr. programs cost $54,000. They are accredited by the Southern Association.

 

From the Great State of West Virginia

Mountain State University www.mountainstate.edu offers the DEL (Executive Leadership) in a short-residency format. At $650/hr., this 48-hr. program costs $31,200. They are accredited by the North Central Association.

Is a distance learning option available?
I knew of some aerospace engineering managers people taking a Pepperdine Ed.D. in organizational changes which involved weekend only classes at an off campus site near LAX.

 

the old program:

The OC program focuses on the world’s changing external environments through research, understanding, and practicing the change within, between, and across organizations. Students follow a sequence-oriented curriculum through a series of 12, eight-day,seminar-style sessions held at conference facilities. These sessions are scheduled quarterly over a three-year period and are supported with online segments.

New Program - got to be less than 12, maybe 6 - I'm not sure
OLD PRICE $1,150 per unit— Education doctoral programs, except Ed.D. in Organization Change, which is $11,310 per term.

So $11,310 (x) 12 = $135,720 + maybe 3-5% increase - I'm guessing....

Can you tell me about the format of CIU please, is it 100% on line? What exams or other requirements are there that I should know about? How long will you probably take to complete your program?

I found there wasn't that much information available on their Website and so I would appreciate any additional light that you could shed on this school. The tuition is compiling, it will come down to my requirements as a student.

Yeah, it is 100% online. 85% are written assignment, and 15% are online final exam taking at CIU's learn center. There are two comprehensive exams one scheduled after completion of the core courses (10) and the other scheduled after all the concentration courses taken (5). If I can handle two classes per term then it will take me approximately one and half year (with 8 terms per year) to finish. But it would be very hard to meet this goal- at least for me.

Both tuition rate (plus discounted from scholarship) and the quality + specialization option of CIU's DBA program were the reason I decided to enroll in this school after they got DETC accreditation in 2/09. Note that the tuition rate is not locked under scholarship program.

I am positive that you will find more reasons to enroll at CIU when talk to their representative.

Pepperdine is not DL. Moreover, tuition and fees are a kings ransom, and have been since my first investigation of them in the mid-1990's, when my Aunt supervised doctoral candidates there...
