According to Guidestar, for the most recent year, Yoram Neumann was paid $449,285 to serve as the CEO of Touro University, the California online division of Touro College. His wife was paid $216,483 as the Dean of HS and ED.

Not bad for an operation that's only a few years old. Just proves that you can make a good living in non-profits.

Isn't Touro University essentially a for-profit that's owned by non-profit Touro College? As in, were it sold, wouldn't it almost certainly be to a for-profit provider? If so, that doesn't seem like the same thing as working for a small liberal arts college somewhere....

Touro University is a non-profit. That's the only way I was able to find the information from their Form 990 tax return. I guess any non-profit school could be sold to a for-profit. I expect that the compensation is some how tied to earnings.

Indeed a LOT of money for an online school thats only eight years old. Nothing against Touro (and I kinda like them), but I always saw TUI as a great way to make a profit without paying Uncle Sam.

Any news on potential TUI buyers?

I suggest you email Dr. Edith Neumann directly. She is currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs and founding Dean for the College of Health Sciences and College of Education. She is also the wife of Yoram Neumann, founder and President and Chief Executive Officer of Touro University International.

You will likely receive a reply something like this:

The Board of Trustees of Touro College has confirmed its decision to sell the assets of Touro University International.

At least this was reported at another forum last April. Since I no longer have any interest in TUI myself I haven't bothered to check recently.
