Has anyone else purchased this book and taken the online assessment? The purchases was recommended by a counselor and my top "5" are: Learner Input Intellection Achiever Competition I find the personal guide to eerily describe me. I have read it and taken the test - great book!! I recommended it to an employee, he read it, took the test, and found that this job was not for him and quit!!! All the managers read it and we had HR recommend it to ALL employees.
How random! I just bought this today and was logging on to take the assessment but poked in here first. Will report back shortly!
The wave of the future...for sure. I found the breakdowns offered online and in the book to accurately reflect my feelings on those categories. I recently submitted an online application in a neighboring school district and was surprised to see this type of online assessment tool used by HR. Apparently a "fit" score is generated based upon your timed responses.
Strengthsfinder - good descriptions... I was pleasantly surprised when I read the report generated after the exam. The descriptions were filled with "loves to read," "avid reader," and the like. When I was involved in full time ministry I always made time for reading. When I sequed to healthcare - the reality of 12-hour shifts somewhat precluded the reading load I desired. Now, having transitioned out of the military and into public education - most of my reading is centered around lesson preparation. I know I'll be a life-long learner and reading will always be a part of that mix. Now, how do I encourage my teens to read?
After reading this post, I decided to read the book and take the test...my results are below: Intellection Learner Input Empathy Relator After reading the descriptions, I think these are fairly accurate and align with other results from similar tests (Myers-Briggs, etc).
We use Strengthfinders at the division of Marriott that I work at. Each person takes a detailed assessment and 8 hours of personal training on their strengths. Management (like me) takes 40 additional hours of training on how to lead people based upon their strengths, how to be a strengths coach, and what not. I whole heartily endorse it, it sheds great insight into yourself and others. The trick, as with most things, is not just to focus and be all proud of YOUR strengths, but to understand other people and work within THEIR strengths.
My Top 5: Empathy Achiever Positivity Adaptability Harmony Pretty worthless if you ask me. I am, that is. LOL.
