The terrorists have now been emboldened by naysayers, doomsayers, and those traitorious enough to question the policies of our President. I'm afraid that this emboldened state has freed the terrorists to fully embrass their deep hatred of freedom, as we all know, the one thing they hate more than anything else on this earth is freedom. I'm concerned that the only thing that has hindered the terrorists in their now highly emboldened freedom hating state from blowing us all to kingdom come is that they are having difficulties locating their nucuuler weapons of mass destruction. If they ever figure out that the proper spelling is nuclear then we're all doomed for sure.

I completely agree, but i have found that even in the face of overwealming evidence most naysaayers cannot be swayed. Many argue "what can the do to us here?" Duh, do I need to answer that.

The fact of the matter is, that even if Gomer Pyle was running the war you dont go out in public,or like Sen.Kerry and Pres.Carter did go to other countries, and bash your country the way they do. I can even consider considing the whole thing in Iraq as mislead, but no matter what if we turn tail and run we have show them a sign of a greater victory. A ultimate victory they will persue. This emboldens them period. I have actually heard liberals argue that i cant prove how many it emboldens. He was conceding that it did and it became a numbers game. Pitiful, like saying we have establish you would prostitute yourself, we are just haggleing over the cost....

I have hear alot of isolationist arguements from people. But when is the time to be pre-emptive? We waited inthe 90s and it got us 9/11. We cant negotiate with religious nuts (Go to a Fundementalist Church and try to get them to concede on evolution), so what else is there to do? If I though for a second that if we left them alone they would leave us alone id pack everyone up and bring them home. But that kind of thinking is childish and naive and I pray for the personal saftey of anyone who thinks that way. Stay away from big cities thats all i can say.

You probably going to get alot of gump about freedom of speach and all that really good stuff. All is true, people can say anything they want most of the time. But they seem to fail to understand, at least in the caseof the war, were that freedom comes from. What i find ironic is that they are so against the patriot act because they worry about our rights, but they seem to think these people will honor them when they let them take over. Also consider the idea that if we have another big attack how far people may be willing to go to fix the problem. If a syrian immigrant walks into a kindergarden and blows up 50 kid I am telling you there will be buses and camps. Mark my words. If we dont stand strong now, then the future will be exact what leftist fear the most..

Also....The first heads they will cut off would be people on the left. Athiest, anti-religion, women who can actually talk and dont wear sheets, homosexuals, progressive thinkers...alll on the chopping block first...well maybe second right after the Jews....

Just my thoughts..its frustrating to me when smart people seem not to understand. We have had lots of lively debates here and most of the people here are very intelligent, open minded people. But all you can do it continue to argue, and when we are proved right then come back and hopefully they will be alive and safe to have me RUB IT IN THERE FACE!!!!!:p

About exactly what. Not Flaming, just wondering...

That the predictions of their leaders that a large portion of the Americain public does not have the stomach to see a task like this through? And the success in these prediction bring hope of others being fulfilled. Namely the destruction of the United States and Israel.

That there is inconsistancies with they way people argue about what there rights are, and how that standard isnt universal? Both side fall victim to this

That most Americains are reactionary and if terrorist were to attack a school or mall that people would go overboard. Sorry, dont have that much faith in people. Wish i did, but there would be camps..

That Religious wackos of all colors are unresonable people who are impossible to negotiate with through logic? I think we all agree that talking to zealots is a waste of oxygen unless you ready to give in to there position.

That I hope to be alive when the smoke clears form this mess, and we see the end results? Sure thing...as long as my wife and kids arn't wearing a burka.

That I enjoy being right? Well dont we all.... I actually hope we are wrong and the actions of the current congress and some former politicians dont embolden them. I just cant see why it wouldnt? Say you are playing a baseball game, and you see you opponeent bickering like little children. Doesnt that give you hope that you will win knowing that people are weaker while divided? We all know that is true...

During the Soviet Era, especially the Reagan days, you have people railing, like John Kerry, against Reagan position of Strength regarding the USSR. Sayng not to provoke them by calling them the evil empire. He held strong, and because we shared values with the Eastern Europeans we found our way through it. WE DOTN SHARE VALUES WITH THESE PEOPLE. The Czechs, Pols, and Russians all wanted the same thing we do. Home, heat, food, a job, healthy kids, a nice school, safe streets, and genreal abiltiy to live your life. This is not shared by the current enemy. It is truely a culture clash.

On a side note, hear about the new book that points out how Sen.Kennedy was working with the KGB during the 80s. Doing PR work against Reagan. Nice.

Ted, Ive seen your posts so I know your opinions are well thought out and researched. I would love to know where you think we have gone astray here. I personally want to make sure that you, me and everyone else here aer here to argue for years to come, and I cant see how the efforts of some will help insure that, and may acctually decrease the chance of that happening.

Yes, we're all doomed. I just hope they don't spike our freedom with some evil potion.

One way to keep terrorists from becoming "emboldened" is to work as a community and help tackle domestic issues.

    http://www.vpcla.org/factGang.htm

    http://www.streetgangs.com/topics/2007/012107raceharbor.html

"Gangs account for approximately 51% of all homicides in Los Angeles
County. Of the 1156 homicides in 2001, 587 were gang-related. The
majority of all gang homicides are committed with handguns"

    http://www.ecpatusa.org/child_trafficking.asp

"It has been estimated that approximately 15,000 children are trafficked to
    the U.S. each year"

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4198668.stm

"An extra 1.1 million Americans dropped below the poverty line last year,
according to the US Census Bureau."

    - To not question the policies of out presidency is the equivalent
of living in a communist regime.

Everyone would like to see some of our social woes get better...but that is pretty irrelavent to terrorism.

But i do think taking care of our own problems is a way to show the world how we can get it done. I saw this gang story yesterday, so it a breaking story.

Everyone with sense thinks we need better border controls, that would elimiante the children market. I would rather target the buyers, who buys them and why are they not serving 20 to life...

They may have dropped below the line, but that is because sooooo many people are rising above it. What is poverty here? Are you poor when you have only 2 tvs, a dvd, and a ps3, or can you have 3tvs? Compare fairly, this is the best place in the world to be poor..sorry

On a side not...This gang problem has been ingnore by everyone for a long time. It wasnt politically correct ot chase them because at the time they were primarly black or latino gangs...Its funny, and pretty racist, that now that the problems are spilling over from minority neighborhoods the mainstream press is all of a sudden up i arms...Guess it was ok over there huh?

I'm back.... Where were you guys when the KKK were lynching black people? Were these people terrorists? Yeah, yeah, I know the Timothy Mcveighs and the KKK are different. Geez, and I thought Arabs, Gang bangers were the only terrorists. lol

All of these recommendations mentioned are great ideals. I am more afraid of Blond hair people than People of color. Ummm, I wondered why?

Our government may need to focus more on our domestic social woes, before
    domestic terrorism get worse.

"A 16-year-old high school junior has been charged with making bombs in a plan to target classmates in his school, a plot uncovered after a video was discovered on the Internet, police said. "

"Police said they seized weapons from Fechteler's home in Newington after receiving a tip from a parent about the attack plan."

Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond, but I was just a bit taken aback by Huffman's characterization of the exercise of First Amendment freedoms as "traitorous."

ok...some of these protesters are now officially maggots..You can discent, and I support that, but burning a soldier in effigy is unacceptable.

Why am i not surprise. It seems some now show there true feelings and "supprot the troops" was just a shield..

    here is the link
    http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?ntry=24853_Leftists_Supporting_the_Troops&only

Here is my question, if you dont support the mission, how are you supporting the troops? They want to have a successful mission. So if you support that what do you do? Do you donate to the USO? Donate time at a Vet Hospital?

Just wondering...gosh this kinda trash makes me mad....

No, buring the troops in effigy is not acceptable. I don't support the mission, and while I don't "support the troops" (what does that mean, anyway?), I do feel bad for them. They, worse than the rest of us, are victims of this administration's ridiculous foreign policy.

Don't feel bad for me. I'm doing what I want to do with my life. Most Marines I know would tell you the same thing.

And yes, it's next to impossible to "support the troops" if you don't want them to win. Thank you for not being hypocritical.

Having read all of your pontifications, I believe I can simplify the argument:

You're all wrong. About everything. Each and every one of you. I am the only one who is right. About everything.

Moreover, you're all going to hell. Each and every one of you. I am the only one going to heaven. I have a suite reserved there. Poolside. With cable TV and free continental breakfast.

Get over it. So there. :D

Thanks Ryan....As I have always felt...Glad to hear from someone in the service who agrees...

And as for Steve's funny response ( and it was funny!!)..Although I do sense the sense of distane in your voice (lol), dont dismiss the point. That is a classic leftest tactic...Once your backed into a corner and have clearly lost the debate one of twothings happens....

    1. Ridicullus statements..or funny like yours

    2. Or they call names like Racist, Sexist, War Monger, or some other form of bigot..

Hard to argue with emotion, sense it isnt rational by definition..

    boucin' around here a bit...

"support the troops" is what these clowns claim when they stand on a streetside and call them criminals...But yet they "support" them...I was just point out how people who protest the war have to make more than a trip to a local corner with a sign to support them , sense the troops goals are to win... I just dont want them to have it both ways....which is what they are trying to do..Just say it like these guys did, and burn some stuffed dummy..

I have to wonder if people on the left hate the troops because the us military embodies winning...and when people win SOMEONE has to lose.....that is the real issue..I know this will flam people up, and Im sorry..but i think thats what people who seem to hate the military are all about...I never win, so I hate those who do...

Even my ex-wife's father, who was a USMC artillery officer who volunteered for two tours in Vietnam, and who used to think that Bush pisses Chardonnay, now thinks Iraq is a dumb war. I suppose it's great that you're willing to go, but what about reservists whose lives and whose families have been turned upside down? They signed up to defend America if the need arose, not to get bogged down in some preemptive crusade.

Win what? It would help if we were working for some sort of meaningful definition of victory. Is it when the Sunnis and Shias lay down their arms and start inviting each other to Eid parties? Since I don't see that as happening any time soon, better to bring them home. (Or bolster troops in Afghanistan, a country that actually did attack us.)

The name of that logical fallacy is straw man argument. I mean come on, saying that people on the left hate the troops is like saying that people on the right are misogynistic white supremacists. Just because you think someone's wrong shouldn't make them bad people. I mean, you guys are wrong and I don't think you're bad people. ;)

I didnt intend to impune all people left of center, but I do believe it is applicable to many on wasting their time on street corners.....I mean come on...get a job.

Sorry that I came off abit emotional, but man that story pissed me off...

You mean the reservists whose enlistment contracts requires them to follow the orders of the chain of command? No one signs a contract to "defend America". The oath of enlistment (or oath of office for officers) requires us to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and requires us to follow all orders from the POTUS and the chain of command. It is up to the political leadership of the country to define our duties.

I can't tell you what anyone else's definition of victory is, but here's mine.
    1) We prevent further attacks on America. Iraq is a big attractive target to Muslim terrorists right now. If they go there to kill Americans, they aren't coming to America to kill our children.
    2) A political reality is created in Iraq where the factions can live in relative peace.
