I took it. My advice is not to study for it, but just to take it. If your native language is English you should pass easily -- it's a glorified literacy test.

    Good luck,

I used the REA book and don't really think it helped but it was fun reading. I passed with an okay score. Just take it.

I just got back from taking this exam ......... got a 52 ....... by the skin of my teeth ...... 6 more credits in the bucket! This exam may as well have been in Russian (I am Monolingual!) .... I had absolutely no idea what the passages were about and I had no idea how to answer the questions ..... I do agree that it would be difficult to study for this exam ..... I used the entire 90 minutes ..... That was not an easy exam ..... for me ........ I'm extremely lucky!

Great job - I think I got a 56 or something like that. Six credits is six credits. What do you have left?

You must have had some idea how to answer the questions or you wouldn't have good news. :) Anyway, congratulations! So, what's next?

For those reading the thread that may be planning to take this exam ---
a quick review of literary terms will be helpful. You can't answer a question about the alliteration if you don't know what an alliteration is.

I always avoid annoying alliterations...

Actually, I've found a review of related vocabulary very helpful when prepping for any CLEP/DANTES exam. You can learn a lot of economics by just reading a good glossary in an econ textbook for example.

One could possibly study for this test by studying literary terms here:
    http://www.tnellen.com/cybereng/lit_terms/
And browsing works of literature here:

This is actually something I'd like to see more of here-- conversation about CLEP and DANTES.
