Saw on Workopolis.com that PCDI.com is looking for customer service reps in Canada, how can they operate here legally without Canadian AUCC approval?
PCDI is outsourcing some of the customer service and marketing operations to Canada. The school itself operates out of the USA with perhaps a materials distribution centre in Canada, if I recall correctly.
In Canada, anyone can open a college as long as you don't claim that you are a University or that your diploma can be used for admission to University. That is why we have thousands of private colleges offering diplomas including PCDI. There is nothing illegal with their operation.
True you can open a private college with a diploma...but if they are offering courses for their degrees (associates, even) then I understood they can't! I have often thought about starting my own private career college in Canada as a distance school then eventually getting a US office for DETC. Could make a lot of cash considering I teach the same stuff during the day (hey the prep work is there!).
I have been involved in one private computer college in Quebec, the problem is that in this province college education is free so it is hard to compete with this. The only way to survive is by working with international agents that can send you international students or if you are able to work with banks in order to get financing for full time studies. This is Herzing's strategy, they find you the money and students rather pay 20K for a course they can get for free at a government college as they cannot afford to support themselves during the time of training. At the time, I remember I used to make less money as part owner of the private college than as an employee of a government college.
