Oh, what a shame, Kendra. Diplomas from ACI-accredited schools are accepted by other ACI-accredited schools, but very rarely by the rest of the academic world. But there is hope.

Thing one: a great many schools, mostly community or junior colleges, do not require a high school diploma for admission, if you are 18 years old, sometimes even under 18 is OK.

Thing two: even if you are not 18 or older, there are many schools that will consider people who have passed the GED (General Education Development) exam. My twin daughters never went to high school. They took and passed the GED exam when they were 15 1/2. One went right on to a community college; the other worked for a while, then was admitted to Golden Gate University. The GED is given at a great many locations, and also, I think, on line.

Thing three: There are quite a few properly-accredited high schools that can be done entirely on line. The real expert in this field is Tom Nixon (who posts on this forum occasionally), who can be found at tomnixon.com. You may well find one that will accept some of the work you did at Julian, and then, after doing more work, get their properly-accredited diploma.

    Best wishes in your quest.

I know it's been seven years, Ted! "Holy Necromancy" and all that!

That list is here: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/5637-accrediting-commission-international-list.html and there is a link to yet another DI thread re: ACI list in it. None are complete, obviously, as ACI has continued to "accredit" more -- uh, schools.

Cutest name for an ACI-"accredited" school? Hands down, a recent addition - a primary school in Dominica called "Look at Me School." Regardless of ACI, with a name like that, I wish the school all the luck in the world!

Hold it a minute -- I erred. Look at Me School --"accredited" by ACI is in the Dominican Republic - not Dominica. Sorry!

LOL @ "Look at me School".

Why didn't they call it "Take a look at me now School"? They could've hired Phil Collins as the spokesman... smh, missed opportunity.

This is a school for young kids - they probably wouldn't get the reference, though their parents might...

I doubt Mr. Collins would take a gig, shilling for an outfit like ACI. If any founders want to establish schools named after his songs, here are some possibilities:

    "Against All Odds" College
    "No Way Out" University
    "I Missed Again" Exam Centre
"Hang In Long Enough" Career College
"Like China" School of Asian Cuisine
"You Ought to Know" Teachers' College
    "Behind the Lines" Military Academy

That should do, for now

    Thank you so much!!!!

Unfortunately I'm starting my college life a little late I'm 26. I do need a complete online college course as I stay home with my daughter full time ( she is 2). It sounds like I will have to go the GED route.

Thank you for your time it's unfortunate that Julian Youth Academy continues to use ACI all those students are going to run across the same problem.

    Thank you again

To find some of their newly accredited schools, check their Facebook page. It seems when a school is visited, some pictures are taken and posted. I of course cannot say that all schools have this done but it is a place to find some information.

Good one, Ram, but not a Phil Collins tune. Pink Floyd, IIRC.

PS - Another possible motto from the same song: "Hey, Teacher! Leave us kids alone!"

Yes, I knew it was Pink Floyd, I thought you were using songs in general. Didn't know all the listed songs were by Phil Collins (I'm not that familiar with Collins' music).

Collins' song, "I Cannot Believe it's True," has special relevance for the student who graduates from an ACI accredited school, then attempts to use the ACI degree to seek a higher degree at a legitimately accredited school. When told by the registrar "This degree has 0% utility and is basically worthless," the ACI degree recipient begins to sing "I Cannot Believe it's True." He then says "The Least You Can Do" is give me some credit for the degree. The registrar replies, "No Matter Who" has an ACI degree, it ain't happening. To which the applicant responds, "You Ought to Know" ACI appeared to be a sincere accreditor and John Scheel was such a nice guy. The registrar quips, "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away," ACI has no credibility. In one last attempt to obtain legitimacy, the applicant retorts, "You don't know 'Both Sides of the Story.'" To which the registrar responds, "That's Just the Way it Is." The applicant, in hysterical anger, drops the ACI transcript on the floor, then walks out the door saying, "I Don't Care Anymore."

Again, good one, Ram. At the risk of overdoing things, I'd say these Phil Collins lyrics, from "In the Air Tonight" might have special relevance for ACI - on any number of occasions:

Well I was there and I saw what you did,
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies...

That's it! I think I should quit with the Phil Collins jokes now. After all, I like him... But ACI? That's ...umm different!

This is avery helpful list for me. As a CAI with the National Christian Counselors Association, I often get asked about accreditation. I think it is important that Christian counseling students make wise choices as far as where they get their degrees from.

Isn't Jacksonville Theological Seminary accredited by ACI?

Doesn't ACI share the same office building with NCCA?

How many NCCA approved schools are ACI accredited?

    Answers:

    (1) Yes -JTS is "accredited" by ACI
    (2) Yes - ACI and NCCA share the same address - 5260 Paylor Lane, Sarasota FL (Birds of a feather?)
    (3) Who knows how many NCCA approved schools are ACI-accredited? The list of approved schools is still "under construction."

Methinks Mr. -uh, I guess that's Dr. One-Poster wrote us here:

    (1) because he didn't read enough DI to take in the unfavourable opinions of ACI
    (2) To insert the link to advertise his own Counselling website :frown:
