Would you return your highest degree for a refund (in 2005 dollars)?

If you could turn in your highest degree and get a full refund (in 2005 dollars, so that's a refund with interest), but you had to give up the use of the degree title, would you do it?

If the refund would cover the cost of an RA or NA doctorate, sure.

    No...

But I would trade my 1995 Blackstone School of Law paralegal certificate for the 600 bucks I paid. The supposed "Blackstone collection" of law books is cheap photocopied crapola. Excelsior gave me a whopping Zero credit for the supposedly "state approved" vocational school.

Are you saying the degree is where the value is?

How does one return the knowledge obtained for a refund?

Absolutely not! The diploma is the ending result of your hard work, endless studding, and self accomplishment that no one can ever take away. No amount of money can replace that. Besides, it does open more doors for more money and more opportunities.

I suspect there is more than one K-WU "alum" willing to take it, even if it doesn't quite cover the cost of an accredited program.

The problem is, of course, that I paid much more than just money for it. :D

Exactly. Perhaps some grads of K-WU feel differently?

I'm very curious in the situation for the few people that answered yes.

I can't imagine anyone that has put in the effort to earn an RA or NA degree that would be interested in a refund.

So regarding the people that answered yes, do you have RA/NA degrees or unaccredited degrees?

For some reason I cannot answer the survey. But the answer is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I have RA, NA, and unaccredited degrees.

I answered "Yes" in reference to my Ph.D. unaccredited degree. I would still have the knowledge, just not the piece of paper.

No way. Even if CCU did not get DETC, it would still be no

I answered yes simple because i don't use my degree, and secondly, if it would pay off my student loans its worth it.

That's why I didn't try to qualify the answers; there might be some people with their own reasons for being willing to do that (hypothetically).

I created this post because of the news that K-WU graduates were asking for--and receiving--refunds, presumably "turning in" their degrees. But we don't know each person's reason, so it's interesting to hear one like yours.

By the way, we often see "is it worth it?" questions regarding going after a Ph.D. Several respondents to this thread (me included) hold doctorates, and we seem to be pleased financially, even though they were expensive. A good answer to the ROI question is to ask whether or not you would reverse it. Not many people have indicated they would.

I wonder if the K-WU grads requesting refunds feel the same, that the knowledge is theirs, but the degree wasn't worth the cost?

I wonder if Robert J Thomas will respond to this, or perhaps he already got himself banned? :(
