I'm looking for a reputable school that offers a master's degree in
mathematics. For some reason they are few and far between. Open university has a good program, but only for those from the European Union. I've found two schools with programs, Commonwealth Open University and Bircham International University, but am not sure how good they are. Any ideas?

You may want to check the MS in Mathematics from Texas A&M at College Station. From the program description:

"This 36-semester hour graduate program is designed for individuals with interests in mathematics, with a particular desire to teach in K-12 and community colleges. "

    More information at: http://www.tamu.edu/ode/disted/programs/math.htm

Be aware that, although intended to be 100% online, not all courses are offered online yet.

A quick search on Peterson's turned up these programs in:

    Middle Tennessee State University
    Montana State University-Bozeman
    Texas A&M University
    University of Wisconsin-Platteville

Expanding the search slightly to include Mathematical Statistics also gave:

    Colorado State University
Iowa State University of Science and Technology

Your references to non-US schools suggests that you're open to this sort of opportunity. Try these:
    Central Queensland University
    University of Bradford
    University of Kent at Canterbury
    University of Melbourne
    University of New England
    UNISA
    University of Wales-Aberystwyth
    Good luck,
    Jack

    Eh?

Bradford doesn't even have a maths department!

UKC only does stats and actuarial maths as a taught masters (which is what I assume is required), everything else by research, and their website says nothing about distance learning.

Aberystwyth, as far as I'm aware, only does distance learning in information and library systems and an environmental law LLM.

Generally speaking, I've always got the impression that apart from professional courses (with appropriate professional prices to match), the market for higher degrees in maths in this country is small enough that pretty much everybody is happy to leave distance and part time to the OU.

Sorry if I've passed on bad info. It's straight out of BG14.

I don't know if this is helpful, but the University of Idaho offers a MA in Teaching Mathematics.

Have you considered these colorado state degrees? -- they can be structured with high percentage of math

If you want pure math rather than math education or some kind of applied math, I can't answer your question. However, I've been looking into a degree from Southern Connecticut State College in what they call "data mining."

The program involves a good deal of math as well as data analysis and statistics. It's very close to an applied math MA program that I began, but did not complete, at the City University of NY (traditional, not DL).

Don't know if this helps, but by looking around at some different labels, you might find something close to what you're looking for.

I though this was Central Connecticut State College? See http://www.ccsu.edu/datamining/

Right you are, Oxpecker. I was speaking from my memory, which was obviously faulty.

For all the DL degrees available through the Connecticut Stae University system, see OnlineCSU.

These are three cool programs in applied statistics by a British university.

No difference in fees for EU/UK or international students.

Definitely that would be a great option. I think UNISA has one that looks awesome. And there is one more in the UK (I forgot where exactly), but other than that, there is no much offer in the OR field (AFAIK).
