WISCONSIN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY and SCHILLER UNIVERSITY seems to have a partnership relation. The president of Schiller-Dr. Leibrecht whom claimed to be a former professor at Harvard is actually alsothe owner of a new formed university-American city university. ACU got its accreditation fromWY.
Schiller International University is accredited by ACICS, which is listed as recognized by USDOE and CHEA. They are also authorized and licensed by The Florida State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities. Wisconsin International University on the other hand claims to be authorized to grant degrees by the ACI, a questionable unrecognized agency, and they are a member of the ACBSP. From what I have previously read here and elsewhere WIU is not a properly accredited school. They have arrangements with private schools in about eight different countries to teach their programs.
Yep, you're right: on the page http://www.wiu-usa.edu/history.htm one finds Also, the American City University page at http://www.acuni.org/ACUNI/folderhome/faculty.htm# opens a window listing faculty, including "Dr. Lutz Hoernecke, Vice-President, General Counsel, Schiller International University" In spite of its name, Wisconsin International University does not have a campus in Wisconsin. more about schiller's operation this is actually a family runned operation. the manager director of Schiller's campus in U.S. is actaully Dr. Liebrecht's son-Markus, whom got his degree from an distance learning institution in Canada. His girlfriend-Inger Johannessen, a woman from Norway is acting as the marketing person for their ACu (American city university) operations. they have sold their franchise programs to a dozens of countries.
Fascinating information, Linjie. Thank you so much for sharing. I remember a newspaper story from 20+ years ago, referring to Schiller as an unaccredited university run from the Wisconsin home of its owner. When Wisconsin International was in fact claiming to be US-based, 5 or 6 years ago, I drove past the "campus" which was, in fact, Dr. Buuck's home in a Milwaukee suburb.

Over the years, a majority of the inquiries we've gotten about WIU have come from the Ukraine.
Is a legit above board university with many campuses overseas and one in Florida. It has been around since 1964 and I know for fact the campus in Germany was there in 1980 when I first went there. I have visted the one in Heidelberg, Germany and observed first hand real students in real classrooms with real instructors. Many of the students and instructors were ex-pats living an international lifestyle. Other students were students from stateside schools doing a semester abroad with approval of their home campus. Others were children from military families based in Europe. The property operated in Heidelberg would not be cheap to rent or own so I don't see a fly by night operation by any description of the word. It may only be ACICS accredited, but the tone of this thread concerning Schiller is doing them a disservice. However, if this person has bought the school recently I hope he does not ruin a good thing for the students.
for chris Chris, I guess the uni you went-Touro has also maintain campuses in Russia and Germany? so which campus did you study at?
This may explain the Ukraine connection. Since the principals in this enterprise appear to have connections to the (real) Concordia University Wisconsin and hence to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod--which is NOT to say that this enterprise has any connection to either--and since there are various organizations connected to the LCMS strenuously promoting missions in Ukraine; given the famously inbred "connections" in most US Lutheran bodies, it is likely that this enterprise got a fair bit of word-of-mouth advertising, possibly even in good faith. IIRC, when I looked at WIU's website about a year ago, there were various references, turns of phrase, etc., which would very vaguely suggest a "Lutheran" tenor to this outfit. It would be nice if the LCMS took some sort of action against this, if for no other reason than to defend the good name of its own (real) schools. Since one of the LCMS' luminaries boasted a Glencullen doctorate (!), don't hold your breath, guys.
I shared the postings on Wisconsin International with a person very familiar with that situation. Here is his response: "What John Buuck didn't say: He was president of Concordia International University [CIU] (which he operated out of his home in Wauwatosa WI) at the same time he was president of Concordia University Wisconsin [CUW]. When CUW discovered that, he was forced to leave. He changed the name of CIU to Wisconsin International University [WIU]. His CIU branch in Estonia became an officially recognized university in Estonia. I don't know what happened to the CIU branch in Ghana (or elsewhere)."
