    I have been spending hours looking for a Masters Degree program in Human Resources. Frankly, the few that I have found come from colleges I have never heard of. I realize that a college like AIU is accredited, but where do they come up with these college names? They don't even sound real, even when they are.

    Does anyone know of a traditional school that also offers distance learning with a Masters Degree in Human Resources?

    I think your best choice would be Troy State University.

    Just curious, why would you not go with a MBA, with no concentration?

    You can also look at University of Maryland University College (UMUC) They have an MSM with a concentration in HR.

    Fort Hays State University offers a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Human Resource Management that's available totally online at a very reasonable cost.

    Wow, what an opener to the board. Great cheap shot to the AIU folks here. On a positive note I think I can help you, (OU) Oklahoma University has a great HR program via DL or if you live near one of the bases listed.

    OU's Master of Human Relations is not a human resources degree. However, if human relations meets your needs, Amberton has a MS in Human Relations & Business. www.amberton.edu

    I came across another option;

    The University of Texas Telecampus offers a M.S. in Technology with an option in Human Resource Development, available totally by DL. The degree is conferred by University of Texas-Tyler.

    I will be attending National University. They are a non-profit RA school with a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management. It is an accelerated program though as each semester is 4 weeks (1 class per semester). But their name may sound fake to you as well.

    I agree about the name issue. I earned a master's at National University and the name does suck, even though the school is great and regionally accredited. What an inept choice of a school name on their part. They must have failed to consider that the name at best sounds like a NA school and at worst, like a degree mill. I loved the program and the entire experience though.

    If you are looking for name recognition, then check out Penn State University and Villanova University, both offer online masters degree in human resources.

    Penn State University-Worldcampus - Master of Professional Studies in Human Resources and Employment Relations.

    Villanova University-through University Alliance- Master of Science in Human Resource Development.

    Good evening!

    Clemson University is a well-known institution, and it offers a Master of Human Resource Development online. More information can be seen at Clemson University : Eugene T. Moore School of Education : Human Resource & Development on the Clemson website.

    You will need to be sure what you wish as your emphasis. If training and development is your interest, then you will want to look for a Masters in Human Resource Development (HRD). If your interest is more along the lines of a corporate HR director, then you will tend to be more interested in Human Resource Leadership/Human Resource Management.

    Full disclosure: I work for Sullivan University, a brick & mortar RA institution that offers a fully online SHRM-approved Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership.
