While he's publicly said offensive things along these lines before, there's no unbiased witness to him saying this particular thing. As usual, almost everyone will believe whichever of them supports their preconceived notions.

General Kelly addressed this today. And well.

One of the family members confirmed that the account was accurate, and the widow, apparently, felt disrespected. I still think it was tacky for the congresswoman to make this known publicly. But, Trump was tacky when he lied about past presidents not calling the families.

It's interesting how Kelly advised Trump against calling the families. Maybe he should have taken the advice because Trump almost never knows how to say the right things.

Abner and sanantone, here is a video and audio of President Trump calling and talking to bereaved family members. Please note President Trump's respect (at all times):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDqGYDlT61E

Please note Democrat Frederica Wilson's voting record against veterans:
Florida Democrat Wilson no friend of veterans, vote record shows

Ms. Frederica Wilson's lack of tact, truthfulness and judgement, all for political purposes, is abysmal. Wilson is using a dead man in a vain attempt to score political points. However, she scored no points, unless you count the pain of the family. Shame on Wilson. She will be un-elected and booted out of office. Rest assured.

Brother me again. The absolute truth is Wilson hear what she heard, along with three or four others. Trump then crossed his arms and accused the family of lying. I wish for once he would have the balls and empathy to just say, I am sorry mam, I meant no offense, and I apologoize, I am truly sorry for your loss. It's that simple. Instead, he sent out Kelly to do this explaining for him, and Kelly didn't do a good job in my opinion. We have a President who is incapable of empathy, or of ever asking for forgivness, even when he is proven wrong.

I will leave my grammos in tact.

Abner, context is everything. Ms. Frederica Wilson's context is a lie. It's that simple. And now the alt.left MSM is accusing General Kelly of being a racist. We have moved into in an alternate political universe where yes means no and no means yes.

How do other people's conversations prove what was said to Johnson's family? They felt disrespected, which is all that matters. You can accept kneeling during the national anthem, which isn't even directed at the military or any particular person, as disrespectful, but you can't accept that Johnson's family felt disrespected when they said they felt disrespected? That's why I say that Trump supporters don't really care about veterans' feelings or their families. They only pretend to care when it scores them political points. They didn't care when Trump disrespected McCain and every POW, the Khan family, or the Johnson family.

I had to fact check me again since he likes to spread fake news. Wilson thought "empty barrel" was a racist term. I don't know why. Someone on MSNBC said that Kelly's choice of words were meant to dehumanize Wilson. I came across many articles from the "MSM" that said that "empty barrel" is NOT a racist term.

John Kelly called Frederica Wilson an 'empty barrel.' Is that racist? - CNNPolitics

Trump tweeted something about Wilson being a wacky Dem, or something to that effect. So she likes to wear hats, so what? What about Roy Moore, does he think he is whacky? Trump makes his own trouble in these cases. He can't just let things lie and wait till they die out, he just has to tweet crap. Kelly did not deny that Trump said what he said, though Trump claimed to have proof that he didn't say "What that woman said" (in his words).

    His remarks were extraordinary.

A question I've never heard anyone ask is: Why was the Mad Hatter in a position where she could listen in to a very private phone call between the President and this widow? What explains her being there?

Ms. Frederica Wilson's career in politics is toast

General Kelly is now being falsely labeled by the alt.left as a racist. The word "racist" used to have a shocking connotation, but it is now used indiscriminately by the alt.left to falsely label everyone who has the audacity to disagree with the alt.left MSM script. The alt.left MSM has entered a surreal world that we have never seen or experienced, except maybe in mobster meetings.

Many people now talk in speaker-phone mode all the time, for a few reasons:
    1. It's easier to hear and converse.
    2. It's hard to hear when the phone has to be held up to the ear (refer back to #1).
    3. Reception and transmission seems to be better in speaker mode (refer back to #1).

Nonetheless, Democrat Congresswoman Frederica Wilson's career in politics is over because she openly lied by misconstruing the truth. She will not be reelected. She is political toast (is that a racist term?). Conversely, President Trump will be a sitting president for a FULL EIGHT elected years. God is good!

Click here to hear an audio recording of President Trump talking to bereaved family members. The context is filled with respect and condolences. Making that kind of a phone call is hard. Very hard.

Of course. But why was the Mad Hatter within earshot of the phone when the call took place?

Gen. Kelley explained in his remarks that what happens is that somebody typically calls and explains that the President wants to call, and asks the next-of-kin whether they want to take the call.

Presumably that's what happened in this instance, and I'm speculating the family informed the Mad Hatter that the call was coming and invited her to be there and listen in. So the whole thing ended up being politicized.

This is one of the worst responses I've gotten from you, which says a lot. You're almost always silent when Trump or someone in his administration is caught in a lie. Stop pretending that you care about politicians lying.

I've already seen your junk threads, by the way. I lose brain cells every time I read them.
