"Forty-eight years later, let’s be clear on what the meaning of Chappaquiddick is. Ted Kennedy should, by all rights, have stood trial for involuntary manslaughter, which would likely have ended his political career. The fact that the Kennedy family — the original postwar dynasty of the one percent — possessed, and exerted, the influence to squash the case is the essence of what Chappaquiddick means. The Kennedys lived outside the law; the one instance in American history of an illegally stolen presidential election was the election of John F. Kennedy in 1960. He in all likelihood lost the race to Richard Nixon, but his father tried to steal the election for him by manipulating the vote tallies in (among other places) Illinois. That’s the meaning of Chappaquiddick. too."

Richard Nixon would have won the 1960 election, had he simply contested Illinois, with its massive voter fraud. He put the well-being of the country ahead of his own political ambition, a non-existent quality these days.

Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy was a bad joke, I have never and probably will never see anyone go so far, based solely on his last name. He sucked as a Senator, in spite of him always touting his "seniority and influence" on Capitol Hill. He couldn't swing Navy shipbuilding contracts to the General Dyanamics yard in Quincy, Massachusetts so it closed in 1986, and also under his watch, every major military installation in Massachusetts was closed or dramatically downsized; Fort Devens, Otis AFB, Hanscom AFB, Westover AFB, South Weymouth NAS, and the Boston Navy Yard.

The only influence he seemed adept at was operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

As Edward McCormack, his Democratic opponent in the 1962 Special Senate election said during a debate, "If your name was Edward Moore, your candidacy would be a joke".
