Unfortunately, we'll probably end up with Giuliani, the only contender for the job more loathsome than the guy who already has it.

The A.G. gets appointed but the appointee has to be approved, right? Maybe that will be a problem because if Sessions get's fired then the people who might get appointed might not get approved and the people who might get approved might not get appointed. I know that I wouldn't want the job.:no1:

If she did end up canned, this couldn't happen to the nicer guy. Having said that, what kind of sociopath treats his most loyal supporters this way? I bet it'll give pause to many Republicans.

Trump is acting like a CEO; putting a scare into an employee who isn't performing up to expectations. That kind of business decision is quite refreshing when applied to the swap of politics, nepotism, and corruption of Washington.

He'll end up staying, with a much more focused approach to his job.

True enough. Except he's not a CEO, and Session's job is not serving Trump. Also, Sessions was Trump's key ally; as a liberal, I welcome the abuse Trump showers his allies with. Can't happen to nicer people, turns off senators and voters (Sessions has his own supporters in both groups), and makes his administration more of a failure. Win-win-win. (see? we're practically tired of winning at this point). On the other hand. what does it say about the character of the Commander in Chief?

Yes he is, and yes he does.

Trump is CEO of the country, and Sessions works at his pleasure. If the shareholders (the voters) don't like what the CEO is doing, they fire him. In this case, at the ballot box.

Do you think that "putting a scare into him" by bashing him in the media is a technique they teach at Wharton? In any case, with the lowest approval rating in history (for a President in his first year) if there was an election today, he would lose.

You mean Trump's expectation that Sessions wouldn't recuse himself from an investigation where he felt a conflict of interest? If it's really "acting like a CEO" to berate people for engaging in ethical behavior, that speaks very poorly of CEOs as a group.

As someone in a leadership program, Trump's behavior is consistently at odds with everything we've learned about motivating employees and reaching goals. He's a case study in what not to do.

Well, maybe. As we learned in 2016, if the Democrats nominate someone equally disliked, they level the playing field for him.

I don't know what Hillary is planning for herself for the future but I hope it does not include another run for the Presidency.

...and then the Russians tilt it in his favour.

The fact that people seriously discuss Hillary Rodham Clinton as "equally disliked" with Trump is a crying shame.

I'm not sure we could expect her to endure this much undeserved abuse again. The woman suffered enough. Still, she remains the most qualified person for the job - sorry, Bernie.

She cheated her way to the nomination then couldn't beat a clown in the general election. The Democrats would do well to set their sights a little higher.

I disagree, but you knew that. Most likely, the point is moot, as the Dems could and probably will find someone else. I can live with any of these - even, if it ever must come to this, Bernie Sanders (sigh).

Let me remind you that no one beat a clown during that election. There is no real reason to suppose that Bernard Sanders (who, just to be clear, lost the nomination to Hillary - by getting fewer votes, imagine that) would fare better. And, yeah, she's more qualified for the job than anyone who was in the field as well as conceivable challengers (except perhaps Joe Biden - and I would still bet on her). Remember that presumable frontrunners on Rep side were Marco Rubio and Bush 3.0 - underwhelming choices.

Okay, then never kvetch about "Russian interference" again.
