"Manafort proposed in a confidential strategy plan as early as June 2005 that he would influence politics, business dealings and news coverage inside the United States, Europe and the former Soviet republics to benefit the Putin government, even as U.S.-Russia relations under Republican President George W. Bush grew worse. Manafort pitched the plans to Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska, a close Putin ally with whom Manafort eventually signed a $10 million annual contract beginning in 2006, according to interviews with several people familiar with payments to Manafort and business records obtained by the AP. Manafort and Deripaska maintained a business relationship until at least 2009, according to one person familiar with the work."

Boy, Trump sure associates with a lot of Anti American type folks.

What amazes me is how he kept denying he worked to advance Russian interests, and how the press just didn't challenge him on that until now. Any fool would understand Yanukovych's American lackey would be approved by the Kremlin, or Kremlin would make his ally pick another political consultant. Funny how Trump just happened to pick that same guy: was he advised by someone on this?

I know this is shallow, but looking at Manafort speak on CNN left me with the impression that something is wrong with him. He deflected questions like a Russian diplomat, and his facial expression was controlled a little too perfectly. He also spoke with a very American accent that sounded almost over the top. Sorry, but he looked and sounded like a deep-cover Russian spy trained on how to pass for an American at some secret facility near Moscow. I know he's not that; that's just the vibe he gives off. Perhaps he worked with/for KGB for so long that he looks like a KGB man.

Here's what I do know. Trump has a screw loose as well. Who goes around tweeting at 3 or 4 in the morning? The guy is a pathological liar! His lies are catching up to him, and his approval rating is 37%! Americans just can't believe what he says anymore. There is a group of psychiatrists who are saying they have "a duty to warn" about this man's mental health. You don't have to be pdoc to know this guy is also probably ADD, which is why he doesn't attend daily briefings. He can't concentrate on things for an extended period of time. Not a good quality in a President.

So we have two reports: first, Manafort was apparently on Deripaska's payroll to the tune of 10 million a year to advance Putin's interests (you can safely assume that "Russian billionaire" and "the Kremlin" mean the same thing for all practical purposes. Certainly true for Deripaska). He even proposed an "ambitious plan" to mess with the politics in Russia's "near abroad". That's like pitching ideas on corrupting the mankind to Lucifer. Who is this person? Second, there were some leaked text messages allegedly from his daughters, which suggested he had input into planning the Institutskaya Street massacre. If the latter is true, on personal level, I can't wish bad things on him strongly enough. I know that little stretch of Kyiv downtown well enough for it to feel like a backyard. Screw this guy.
