Could there be an upset on Monday?

I sincerely hope not, and it has nothing to do with politics, because you'll see armed revolts if that happens.

The Democrats lost, they need to accept the results (as they screamed and howled that Trump should if Hillary had won) and move on with their lives.

I don't know the exact rules but I think some are bound and some are not. Even if it's theoretically possible it will never happen.

The whole thing is dumb. Even if some Trump electors are inclined to change their minds they would not choose Clinton. The scenarios I've heard have some electors switch to Mitt Romney or Evan McMullen leaving no candidate with 270 electoral votes. This throws the election into the House, which decides they would rather have the new dark horse than Trump. It seems painfully obvious to me that they would vote Trump in anyway rather than face an angry Republican base.

We'll just have to wait until the evidence that Trump colluded with Putin is uncovered and even a Republican House is willing to impeach.

Exactly what do Democrats think is going to happen? Even if enough Republican electors were to defect to deny Trump a majority (which is already science fiction), it would then go to the House, which will promptly confirm him.

I would think this is much like all else we see in the media, a small percentage. To be fair if things were swapped they would be freaking out if Trump supporters were doing the same thing. They were going as far as to mock Trump for not saying he would accept the results and how un-American it would be..lol.

I truly wish that those on the left could feel how middle class Americans feel. It seems like the media, big cities and academics have a big bridge to cross in understanding how America is suffering. Trump has offered to help us, Hillary has mocked us. They still mock us with these news stories. I hope we can all come together.

I don't even demand to come together. Just let me be, and I give you my word I will do the same.

"Come together" with rapists, murderers, 9/11 cheering jihadi sleeping agents, disgusting pigs, menstruating bimbos, and BLM Nazis? Sure, whatever you want buddy. Also, Hillary won the popular vote.

...back to the topic: in all likelihood, Trump will be confirmed today. A number of electors might defect; it will not get Hillary to 270. Trump will be terrible President, but the Republic will endure and he'll be replaced legitimately, either through impeachment or in 2020. Probably, in 2020. Democrats will win in 2020; as much as I want the winning candidate be Hillary, she'll probably not run. Most of Trump supporters will realize they were conned; small number of deplorables will crawl back under their rock.

It depends on what the U.S. economy does between now and then, and government in general and the president specifically has less power over that than people think.

Why you would specifically want Clinton as a candidate again mystifies me.

My guess is that this was Hillary's shot and she'll not get another. The DNC was pretty clearly supporting her (versus Sanders) but her inability to deal with Trump effectively is likely to put her out of favor in that organization. She'll remain a public figure, maybe even be a political officeholder, but she'll never be President.

In short, because she earned it, more than any other person who realistically could run. I always liked girls who do their damn homework, and Hillary is the real-world Hermione Granger. She won't run - I don't think after this campaign she particularly wants to go through it again. Also, sadly, some of the incredible amount of mud the right has thrown in her direction stuck, as we all have seen. So yeah, she'll remain active but not as the candidate.

Hopefully Democrats will get their sh#t together and find someone capable. In fantasyland, it'd be cool if Chelsea runs (just because of how much that would disturb the Clinton haters); but no, Chelsea did not "earn" it. I don't see Bernie running in 2020 either, although he could be pretty influential in the party in the near future, and help pick the ultimate nominee.

The legitimate defeat of the Democratic Party has resulted in more vitriolic name-calling, fake news, false accusations and violence since the Civil War meltdown that led to Americans-killing-Americans. Thank goodness the United States is not a democracy but is, instead, a Republic of rules, laws and the electoral college.

Trump knew how to campaign for electoral votes, as was evidenced by his rally locations, in conjunction with his robust use of social networking (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Fox News), which eclipsed the leftist mainstream media (such as ABC, CNN, NBC, MSNBC and the NY Times). While the mainstream leftist media was creating fake news, such as announcing that Hillary Rodham Clinton was a shoo-in for the presidency and presenting manipulated polls, Trump was concurrently holding multiple daily rallies (usually in multiple states on the same day).

The DNC remains befuddled by Trump, who legitimately and vigorously fights back. The DNC is also out-of-touch with hard-working Americans, as is evidenced by the results of the electoral college. Again, thank goodness that the United States is not a Democracy, but instead, is a Republic of rules, laws and the electoral college.

Trump serves as an outstanding president for eight years, which will be followed with four more years with Pence as president. In total, it will be a glorious 12 years. Enjoy it while it lasts and:

I disagree. Personally, I wanted to see a Trump v. Sanders showdown. Let's take our true left and our true right and let the nation duke it out. But the DNC couldn't let that happen. Debbie Wasserman Shultz was fairly unapologetic about the fact that the DNC was fixing the race to ensure Clinton was the candidate.

I don't have any beef with Hillary, personally. But she ran dirty. And now she's covered in dirt. Also, she's been saddled with numerous scandals going back decades. "Always accused, never convicted" isn't as sexy of a statement as I think her campaign thought it was.

Keep in mind that this was her second ass kicking. The first came when Obama trounced her in the primaries in 2008.

So Clinton 2016 seemed like a foregone conclusion for years. Why? Because the GOP didn't have a strong enough candidate. They didn't have anyone in the hopper who drew a crowd the way Obama did in 2008. Enter Trump. Trump drew a crowd but he pissed off the GOP establishment. Let's be real. The GOP made them all sign a pledge not to run as third party candidates because 1) they assumed Trump would lose and 2) they didn't want him running as a third party candidate and tanking their chances at the white house.

But the DNC put all of its eggs in the Clinton basket basically since Obama's first term. And that was equally disastrous for the reasons seen. Trump, for all of his faults, was chosen from a field of candidates by Republican voters. Hillary was handed to Democrat voters and when many of those voters had the audacity to cast a ballot for Bernie Sanders the DNC promptly ensured that those votes didn't matter.

So the irony that the people who were upset about the DNC ensuring that Bernie wouldn't win the nomination are now calling up the Electoral College to, essentially, do the exact same thing is a bit humorous, IMHO.

The GOP has had control of the House and Senate for a while now. Obama came in under such pleasant circumstances. And those circumstances shifted only two years later at the midterm elections. So the victory may be short lived. Or maybe it will endure. But it's a two party system and things can only really flip and flop back and forth.

That you would even mention people who would be in their eighties while in office highlights how weak the Democratic bullpen is. At least come up with someone like Cory Booker or something. Jeez.

Well, that's one of the reasons they'll not run. I'm not a Cory Booker fan in particular, but, sure, he could be the nominee. Or Kamala Harris. Or, I dunno, Tammy Duckworth. They'll easily find someone if they can stop infighting for like a week.
