This is a story involving DL, but it's also political. I decided it would be best to post it in the political discussion. The article also discusses Trump University. I'm not a Trump fan and am certainly not defending him or his past endeavors. I just think it's an interesting read: Articles: Bill Clinton Profits from World?s Largest For-Profit University
I view Hillary Clinton as one step above the Devil incarnate, but I don't see what this has to do with her. Her and Bill probably aren't even on speaking terms these days (other than for campaign events), and she has no control over what he does on his own. However, fair is fair. The media has been in an orgasmic feeding frenzy over Trump University (which was about as much a real university as McDonald's Hamburger U.), but you'll never, ever, EVER see this mentioned in the lamestream media. Objective journalism is dead. The big alphabet network news shows (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) are now nothing more than the propaganda machines for the Democrat party. Here's just the latest outrageous example of media bias; Katie Couric takes blame for 'misleading' gap edited into gun documentary | Fox News
At least the courses at Hamburger U are ACE evaluated for college credit. ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training I saw that about Katie Couric's gun documentary. Disgraceful.
A lot of for-profit colleges have questionable marketing practices, but there is one glaring difference between them and Trump University. Laureate owns accredited colleges. These colleges are also licensed to operate in their jurisdictions, so they are regulated by government entities along with recognized accrediting bodies. Some of the members here have either attended or considered attending one of their colleges. I, myself, have even taken a look at one of Walden's competency-based programs. If you graduate from St. Augustine's physical therapy program, you qualify to sit for the licensing exam. As an educated consumer, I would never pay around $35,000 to attend Trump University or anything like it. How one could compare accredited colleges to an overpriced seminar, I do not know.
By the way, CNN did a lengthy segment on Hillary Clinton's representation of a man charged with a sex offense. The questionable part wasn't representing this man because his right is to have representation, and Clinton reluctantly did it. The questionable part was the lengths she went to to discredit the victim. Of course, you wouldn't know that CNN covered this because you don't even watch it. THAT was real journalism. This article in the OP is typical bad journalism from writers who don't know anything about higher education.
Laureate Education, operator of accredited universities, hired Bill Clinton in a role that amounts to a celebrity spokesperson. Note that it operates abroad, where Bill's brand is even stronger. I can't tell you whether they got their money's worth, but it all makes sense as a business move. In contrast, Trump University is a scam, run by scammers, headed by the presumptive scammer. Also, people are supposed to "profit" from "for-profit" enterprises. It's what it says on a label. Again, in contrast, TU is not a university, and Trump is only involved in the form of a cardboard cut-out. Two lies in a two-word name.
