Have Trump voters been failed by GOP's Reagan-style economics?

    From the article,

“Republicans have been able to win elections on two sets of issues,” Reaganomics plus conservative social positions on things like guns and abortion, says Daniel Shea, an expert on American politics at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Today, “there’s a group of voters that have said that those two sets of issues are no longer enough.”

It appears that Trump has tapped in to a GOP mind set shift (at least among voters) by going after dinner table issues like social security in a non traditional GOP way:

"When Donald Trump spoke at a South Carolina rally last weekend, the audience booed a Pacific Rim trade deal supported by much of the Republican-controlled Senate. Then cheers erupted in the basketball stadium where he was speaking when Mr. Trump touted his plan to avoid entitlement cuts, saying, “We’re going to save Social Security. We’re going to save Medicare.”

Wow! He figured out that people don't want their social security to be privatized or cut in any way. Genius! His opponents have tried the same old methods, and he switched things up on them. The Donald has tapped in to working class issues in a way that his opponents have not. No wonder he is surging in the polls. He dared to stray from the conventional wisdom.

I would never vote for the guy, but I got to say the guy is smart. His rivals can't seem to keep up with his ever evolving tactics. I am in awe.

Figuring out how to talk like a populist isn't that hard. Getting elected and pushing the agenda through is.

And in this, it's interesting how similar Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are.

I continue to be amazed to see people cheering Trump when he's the guy most likely to act against their interests.

When was the last time GOP espoused "Reagan-style economics" aka Reaganomics?

I seem to remember Reagan being evoked on all matters repeatedly--including the economy--by GOP candidates.

Agreed. Is the article based on words or actions, as it relates to Reaganomics?
