Just FYI, I stay away from politics generally and am a registered Independent, however I got this in email and I keep laughing at it: -------------- Dear Michael Phelps: Look, I get it, you’ve been successful at the 2012 Olympics. But you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by athletes who think, well, it must be because I was just so talented. There are a lot of talented people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. Just because you won a couple gold medals doesn't mean you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great coach somewhere in your life. Somebody invested in roads and bridges that you took to drive to the pool to practice. So you have a medal - -- you didn’t win that. Somebody else made that happen. Mail your $9,000 dollar gold medal tax (per medal) to me before returning to the US. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together. Sincerely, President Obama
"You Olympians, however, know you didn't get here solely on your own power. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them." – Actual quote from Mitt Romney, CEO, Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2002
Hey, Jonathan, maybe Pres. Obama and Gov. Romney are brothers from different mothers? Their positions on getting their on ones own, and affordable health care are similar. I'd like to see Gov. Romney's birth certificate.
Truly, they are two peas in a pod. I'm amazed that so many conservatives are willing to squint within an inch of their lives to try to see some meaningful difference between them.
Brothers from different mothers? Well, if they have different mothers, they would have to have the same father in order to be brothers. Obama's father was a black guy from Kenya (his mother was white), while Romney's father was a white guy who was president of American Motors at one time. Maybe they are brothers with the same mother and different fathers. And maybe that's why Obama and Romney have different last names despite being brothers.
