Sheesh. These guys need to stay on script and not try to think for themselves so much.

I did enjoy Newt's reply to Juan Williams race baiting question. That was fun.

The rest of it? Tripe. Vapidness disguised as false humility. Not a lot of fun to watch, at all. Not even that interesting either really.

I'm not at all a fan of Rick Perry, but he's right in this case. If the statistics stated by the moderator are even half-true, that's outrageous.

Turkey used to be a solid ally of the United States, especially when Turgut Ozal was Prime Minister; his support of the US-led coalition in the Gulf War meant that Saddam Hussein had to worry about an invasion from the North by Turkey's very powerful military. That proved to not be necessary, but it was a very effective threat.

You can THINK it, but you can't SAY it.

In foreign affairs, you can't just show all your cards like that.

Yes, you can. . . if you're intending to provoke a response. But you'd better have thought out any after-effects before you say it.

Which is one of the many reasons why I'm not a fan of Rick Perry.

Understandable Bruce, but at least Perry gave his answer. On-the-other-hand, top candidate Romney too often IMO, merely talks in a circle.

But not as a presidential candidate this far away from the election. There is no reason to provoke a response when you have no authority to react to it.

Unless I missed it (and I've seen most of them), I don't believe Romney has ever been asked about Turkey during the debates.
