I don't mind saying that I won't be voting Republican in this next election so you can consider that as my basic perspective. But let's be honest; how hard is it to dump some campaign volunteers in front of some shopping malls and collect some signatures so that your boy can at least get on the ballot. If you can't successfully complete that simple task then how can we expect you to be a viable candidate, nevermind be the actual President?

My favorite part about the story, and the reason why I thought it was amusing enough to post, is that he lives in Virginia and therefore, if he choses to vote in the primaries, can not vote for himself :approve:

It is obvious that Romney is going to get the nomination - when is he Gingrich going to throw in the towel?

I'm not so sure about that. Gingrich just got a major endorsement.

Despite the media's best efforts to promote Romney's inevitable coronation, he is not now and has never been the only possible nominee.

I follow William F. Buckley's criteria; find the most conservative candidate that has the best chance of being elected, and throw your support behind him/her.

Romney clearly fits that bill for me.

Okay, but I was referring to the media's relentless characterization of Romney as the "frontrunner" or the "likely nominee" or similar journalistic malpractice. Even if you like the guy, you have to admit that the extent to which they've tried to herd Republicans toward accepting Romney is ridiculous.

I see the opposite; the media is terrified of Romney, because he has absolutely no personal dirt to smear in the headlines; there will be no "bimbo eruptions" like with Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, and Herman Cain with Romney. Instead, they've tried to paint him as the "vulture capitalist", which unfortunately Gingrich and formerly Rick Perry fell for, and tried to do themselves.

I agree with a lot of what Gingrich says, and he would absolutely mop the floor with Obama in a debate, but the guy is a reprehensible human being as far as his personal life. That being said, I'd still hold my nose and vote for him if he's the nominee, because I'd rather have a conservative with alley-cat personal behavior in the Oval Office than a committed Marxist.

Then why falsely portray him as the inevitable nominee?

Fair enough, although I for one do not believe either that Gingrich is really conservative or that Obama is Marxist. It's all posturing.

I agree. Gingrich is just being a politician. He has to play the conservative to win the primaries.

Obama is nowhere near a Marxist. And, in case anyone wants to throw out "Obamacare," let's recall that the health reform forces individuals to buy a product from private businesses.

In the hope of using Chicken Little hyperbole to make him not be the nominee....."The presumptive nominee is a heartless vulture capitalist!!!"

Oh, Gingrich is conservative on *most* issues, and Obama is most definitely a Marxist.

    No?

You do know that Nazis were fascists, not Marxists, right? Nazis hated Marxists.

Also "National Socialism" does not equal "Socialism" anymore than "People's Republic of China" equals a true republic.

They're all corporatists. Their policies seem different only because their patrons differ.
