Greyhound bus charges an $18 "gift fee" for the privilege of buying a bus ticket for someone else: Bus ticket fee is an $18 gift for Greyhound - Los Angeles Times Yes, Greyhound is a private company and they can do what they want with their fares, but if you think the fee is a bit unfair, would you consider signing my petition: Economic Justice Petition: Timothy T. O Thanks! Shawn
Done - I think that is really over the line. Who cares who is in the seat and who purchased it? So they have to enter a different name in the passenger section as opposed to the billing section...add $3 or something more palatable.
I dislike Greyhound for a plethora of reasons. This is one that I have never even heard of. It is not just insane, but it is also a stupid business decision. Even if they made a fee of $1-3, which I still think is steep, they would at least be able to advertise their product as a great gift idea. As is, what person in their right mind would buy a gift ticket?! DOWN WITH THE 'HOUND!
That does not seem like a good business practice at all. Other than looking for criminals or something as far as GH is concerned who cares who's in the seat? It's been many years since I road on a Greyhound. I took one up from HB, CA to Spokane, WA. It was a 31 hour fun-filled event. There was a migrant worker and his family sitting accross from me and they were headed to the fruit farms in mid WA state. I taught them some card games and we played Spades and Progressive Gin for most of the trip. The GH where I am from is not a place to hang out and is certainly last on most people's minds when they plan to travel.
I suppose her point might have been that it's a petition, but it's not a political one since we're simply asking a private company to change one of its policies. Still, it doesn't strike me as a firing offense or anything.
Someone who desperately wants the recipient to leave town. Say, what's in this envelope I got... Johann
