Honestly I like him better than Ron Paul or Mitt Romney. So it's not all bad news today.

I can see that you are being sarcastic, but the issue itself runs more deeply than whether or not Gingrich is a hypocrite.

I really don't understand why anyone at all would care about marriage laws that pertain to other people. If it requires a man-made law, then how is it being preserved as anything sanctified? We live in a country where half of all marriages end in divorce and polls of varying results show that a significant amount of those who do not divorce are still perpetrators or victims of adultery. Not to mention the existence of polygamy, physical and verbal spousal abuse, cohabitation, swinging, etc.

Consider also that it was not until Loving vs Virginia (1967 - it's scary how recently that was) that prohibition of interracial marriage by individual states was considered unconstitutional. That is an ugly history which undermines the very moral fabric of marriage. The simple truth is that there has never, ever, ever, ever been sanctity in marriage in this country nor in any nation in the whole of mankind's existence.

Sanctity of marriage does not exist other than in those individuals who maintain honor within their own. No man-made law can change that. Who cares what the government decides?

EDIT: Besides, his views on marriage (like mine, btw...) are undoubtedly rested on his religious beliefs, but he seems to completely miss the part about allowing each person to decide how to live. The early Christians went to court, not to force others to obey God, but to legally establish their own right to obey God, which they would have done either way (Acts 5:28,29)

Finally, a candidate for people who think Barack Obama is insufficiently arrogant!

You know what would be really interesting? If the Republican party actually nominated someone that had a snowball's chance in hell of beating President Obama. The only big name I see with that potential is Mitt Romney. Newt, Palin, Trump, Huckabee, Paul, and Santorum are dream opponents for Obama.

Newt MIGHT have the best shot of the bunch, but that isn't saying much. In addition to the above mentioned personal baggage, his popularity peaked last century. Ron Paul would get clobbered simply because the guy is to honest, and once the American people realize how many government services he wants to shut down he is done for.

If I was a betting man, as it stands now, I would predict President Obama winning a second term.
