What is a good political issue to use for my assignment?

    For my political science class I have to write a one-page e-mail to an elected official (it can be anyone in the U.S as long as they are currently elected) about any political issue. It can be opposing their views or agreeing with them... the topic is very open.

    My problem is that I am not very politically aware and have no idea what political issue I should talk about, or even to who. Any suggestions? Please help!

    Why communicate with a U.S. politician and not an elected official in India?

    By airtorn's comment I am assuming the OP is in India. If you need to find an issue to write about, go to CNN.com and click on the US tab, it will give you all the goings-on in the states. Check CBC and FoxNews as well. If it needs to be a US politician the easiest thing for you to do is choose healthcare, the budget, the debt ceiling or the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Then just go to the US Senate or US congress website and pick someone to write to.
