I think that it is a positive sign that Fox News wouldn't allow Beck to spew his b.s. Every day he would rant on and on about these crazy conspiracies between Obama and _________________ (choose your favorite boogeyman). He would write on a chalkboard and stick up photos, drawing lines between different people to demonstrate some type of relationship. It was really bizarre and creepy. He would wear a sports jacket and jeans with sneakers, again, very strange and disturbing. He was obsessed with Obama and imagined that people and organizations like the Rev. Wright, George Soros, Bill Ayers, Kim Jong Il, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Planned Parenthood, Nancy Pelosi, Media Matters, etc. were actively helping Obama undermine the Constitution and the American way of life.

    Beck leaving Fox

While I am not a fan of Obama, Glenn Beck was off the chart. He was just as guilty of spinning things then anyone else. Creepy is a good word to use.

Glen Beck is fun to watch, but he was on the wrong chanel. He's not to be taken seriously at all, so I think he'd fit in nicely with comedy central.

Say what you will about the man but he's worth more than all of us combined so he is obviously doing something right. I find his show entertaining but don't take it too seriously, some of it is pretty out there. The only reason the show is ending because some advertisers have been pressured to stop advertising during his time slot. His rating are still higher than any other cable news show in that time slot even after the half million drop in viewers this year. He will still be producing programming fo Fox News and Fox Digital so it's not like they fired him.

That depends on how you define both 'worth' and 'right.'

Well "worth" would mean net value in dollars and by "right" I mean he's a smart business man. I don't think he believes half of what he says, but he knows his market.

Great, he's a smart businessman whose product is promoting conspiracy theories as fact, theories that have caused needless friction between various components of American society. Add in the great angst he has caused the typical citizen and yeah, he's a smart businessman, he has profited at the expense of the general welfare of the American public.

You think maybe what has caused the friction in society is the fundamental differences in beliefs by different parties? Attributing all of that to Glenn Beck and his 2 million viewers is a bit ridiculous. Plenty of people on the other end of the spectrum promote conspiracy theories on cable news, it's just that no one pays attention to them.

My view is that Glenn Beck is a contributor to the hate rhetoric. This hate rhetoric preaches righteous indignation against anyone that disagrees, frequently using religion or "founding fathers" rhetoric, good versus bad, evil versus righteous. Of course Glenn Beck is not the sole source but is just another example of irrational polarization.

Occurs on both sides, Bill. Beck just happens to have garnered a big audience than personalities on the other end of the spectrum doing the exact same thing.

Does this minimize how wrong it is?

I don't remember anyone saying it was one sided, anyway.

No one has said it is one sided, but no one is pointing out that Beck isn't the only culprit.

I don't really feel he is doing anything wrong. His message obviously resonates with some people. I don't agree with him 95% of the time, but I also recognize that his show is 99% entertainment and 1% news. If you think his television show is crazy, listen to his radio show. Makes the tv show look tame.

The YMCA that attend to get my 7 miles in per day ( my therapy) has Fox News on all the time. There are some members who threatened to quit if it were not on. Now, I am there to get my run in, so I do not care about Fox ( Metallica and Judas Priest take care of that...LOL). I just see him with a chalkboard and items up there. For me, I do not care one way or the other. I do know that during the election (2008), there was almost a physical fight over Fox and "supposed" racism. Interesting. What does this add to the thread, probably nothing. LOL
