I'm shocked . . . SHOCKED to learn that access to socio-cultural information is restricted in a fundamentalist Islamic state!

Ignorance breeds subservience. Simple formula. If you want your population to stay subdued, all you have to do is set up and sell a fundamentalist religious state and keep outside influence to a minimum.

    Kind of like Texas. :deal:

Is this why after 4 years I still don't feel very welcomed in Dallas? lol

You feel my pain. Except I was raised here. I grew up and learned to think for myself. Everybody else seems to be experiencing a severe state of mental stagnation; or, as is sometimes the case, they have become enlightened to varying degrees, but are afraid of losing their chunk of the establishment pie if they buck their elders.

We're not unique from the rest of the planet, I know. This just happens to be the glass house from which we can gleefully throw rocks.

By the way, welcome to DegreeInfo!

    emissary,

Yes, there is an air of social elitism here in Dallas I still can't wrap my head around. I guess I should still keep trying to "network" even if it means stepping on anybody and everybody to become a local celebrity, at the minimum, get my picture in "D" Magazine.

Thanks for the welcome, have been a lurker for three years, finally felt I should at least sign up and reduce the ratio of members to visitors.
