Below is a link to a video of a county supervisor in Milwaukee that does not know that Arizona borders Mexico. She does not misspeak, it is central to her argument attacking Arizona and calling for a boycott of the state. She has a college degree. She says she does not understand the Arizona law, not surprising she does not understand it because she is stupid. The fact she has a college degree proves that colleges became boob hatcheries. I challenge Joe American on the street to answer if my home Minnesota is in Canada, USA, or other. I believe a large percent of Americans will get that wrong. Other Americans I talk to here in China usually know it is in the USA, but don't know where.
Hehe. I'm reminded of the map of the USA that doesn't show Mexico at all... After a quick glance at that map, one wonders if it will be possible to take a cruise and stop in the Port of El Paso...
F.a.i.l. Wow, its not just that she didn't know that Arizona shared a whopping (389 mile) border with Mexico, its that she apparently thought Arizona was a part of New England... "but this is a state that is a ways removed from the border."
This Stuff's Made in New York City!!!!!!! You know, despite bordering el rio, El Paso is a dreary, dry, dreadful place (chock, full, however of TONS of really cool people). If you are wondering, no, NOBODY there eats El Paso salsa, there's not a redneck to be found, and there's a Border Patrol Museum. Seriously. A Border Patrol Museum. (Forgive the title, I mixed up the advertising campaign of ANOTHER brand of salsa.)
I don't think it's the fact she didn't know that bothers me, it's that she hasn't researched enough to find out before attempting to affect public policy that scares the crap out of me. If one is ignorant, one must become less ignorant and then develop an opinion. The initial ignorance isn't the problem (as much).
