So I'm walking through my living room when I could swear I was hearing a Ronald Reagan speech and suddenly I flashed back to when I was around 10 years old or so. I walked over and saw my wife watching Reagan give a Memorial Day address and I just stood there and listened for the last 8 minutes or so of it. I have to say I felt better after hearing him and at the same time I felt so much worse. It really feels like we've lost something in our leadership since those days and I'm not talking about Obama either. I'm talking about Bush Sr., Bush Jr. and even Clinton. I'm not some neo-con waxing poetic about how great Reagan was without ever listening to the guy, nor am I some strong right wing conservative who thinks that Ronald Reagan is the modern Jesus...instead it just felt different hearing a President actually be encouraging in his speech, provide hope and make me just feel kind of patriotic. Something I haven't felt in a while.
Hmm. I haven't comfortable with my government since the first time I ever cared one whit about politics. It does make it hard to feel patriotic, especially when "they" are calling you "unpatriotic" or even "terrorist risk" (State Officials Think Libertarians Want To Kill Police - St. Louis News - Daily RFT).
