I'm not a brither by any means, but this is something that we should all look into and can look into, Obama's fake ss number. I am not sure if any of yall know about the fake selective service card that was put on file in 2007-2008 for Obama (they got busted) an no major media outlet picked it up. But all of these things are starting to make me wonder about this man. I know the governor of Hawaii just came out and said that there was a birth cert on file for him, but we still cannot see it. What are the dates the thing was created? Anyways just read the article and let me know what all of yall educated people think..lol

I'm sure you mean well, b4cz28. After all, you're not a birther, you're just laying out the evidence so we can examine it for ourselves. Too bad the evidence comes from Whirled Nut Daily.

Look, the problem with all the "birther" hysteria comes down to this: To be willing to believe the birther hypothesis, you have to believe that it can somehow be proven that Barack Obama was born outside the US to parents who were not themselves US citizens. Furthermore, you have believe that despite the existence of this evidence, the well-funded and extremely competent opposition research efforts of Hillary Clinton's campaign, AND John McCain's campaign, AND literally hundreds of pro-GOP special interest groups were unable to uncover this evidence and publicize it.

As I recall, the best that the Clintons could come up with was a picture of Obama looking like an idiot wearing traditional Kenyan clothing over a t-shirt and khakis circa 2006. The Republicans, on the other hand, couldn't decide if Obama was a secret Muslim or a Christian black radical, so they decided to go with both. "Terrorist Fist Jab", anyone?

If Obama isn't eligible to be president, but Karl Rove and Hillary Clinton couldn't figure out a way to prove it, then the Orly Taitz-es of the world are never going to be able to do it.

Most middle-class and lower-class right wingers that wrap themselves in the "tea party" and "birther" flags are frustrated by their own circumstances in a down economy, and are lashing out at a president they see as "the other", when in fact, Obama has cut their taxes (95 percent of working Americans saw their 2009 tax bill go down due to Obama policies), healthcare reforms are eliminating insurance company abuses like rescission and lifetime maximums, and right now Congress is trying to implement real financial reform to prevent the abuses that led to the economic disaster we're just now beginning to recover from.

It's amazing how divorced the birther/tea party folks are from reality. The average American's tax burden right now is lower than it has been at any time since the Truman Administration, but if you only watched Fox News, you would believe that the Sheriff of Nottingham's men are knocking on doors every day to squeeze yet more taxes out of a terrified citizenry. It simply isn't true, but thanks to 24/7 cable news, people can find their own personalized echo chamber. Next time you see tea party coverage, see how many signs you see expressing support or thanks for Fox News. I didn't know that major media companies needed support - I guess I should send a card to ESPN sometime.

I guess my educated opinion is that there are productive ways to oppose the president, but "birtherism" simply isn't one of them. To people who don't buy into the conspiracy theories, the "birther" position smacks of thinly veiled racism and desperation, neither of which are anything to build a political movement around.

I must tell the truth about my political opinions....I have none too little(voted RP). But it seems odd that he will not just release his birth certificate. He will not even let us look at his education records, why? I care more about what’s up with them than anything else. In no way do I believe that wnd is a "news" organizations but I am starting to believe Fox, ABC and NBC are all no longer news organizations ether. Enter Obama’s first section of his ssn (042-68) and you get a Connecticut issued SSN. The number was issued 2 years after he started working and many years after he was born. You can do that; I can do that, it easy to check. If anything just tell me why Obama and I can put it to rest in my own mind. How did Harvard lose all your research papers, did you not keep copies? Just show use so people can put all this to rest.

I think we have much larger issues to worry about rather than this nonsense. Nothing really changes no matter which party is in office; massive spending, and tax cuts or benign increases. The only thing that changes is where the money is spent. Everything else is just noise.

I have no idea how/if this will be remedied, but the spending party is going to have to end someday. Too bad most of us will probably live to see it. Because I can't imagine the chattering/voting class electing someone who will actually do anything other than keep pushing the money around to special interests, entitlements, wars, etc...

Dang I did not know the constitution was nonsense, but yes, I am sure we do have other things to worry about, like posting here. I just seems if anyone evens brings this up people become upset. I am sorry for asking questions about Obama. What if I just limit my questions to his education and why he will not let us have a peak? This is an education site correct? lol

Thanks for pointing out the extra "E" I had in there. Btw that is not a birth certificate, it's a certificate of live birth which anyone could get back in the day. It only shows that you were born. You did not have to be a US citizen to get one and there was no proof required to get it.. If it were only so easy!

The constitution certainly isn't nonsense, but I believe this issue is, in my humble opinion. I also believe it also pales in comparison to concerns about the escalating debt, out of control spending, and a tax cut populous. He could be an alien from Saturn, but he still is promoting this path that many others before him have promoted, many of his supporters and opponents support, and most likely his successors will support. It's unsustainable, but instead we waste our breath and energy with noise. I guess that's just the nature of the 24/7 news culture; the need to find something to get viewers/web hits/ratings...

I apologize if my opinion offended you; that wasn't my intention.

I have no political leanings whatsoever... which makes it easy for me to point out the insanity that exists on all spectrum. However, since the Democrats have been in power, the rhetoric coming from the right has become so incredibly bizarre that it is starting to make me wonder if L. Ron Hubbard faked his death.

    1) Truth be told, the certificate issue is MOOT. His mother is a natural-born citizen, which makes him one. Barack could have been born in Afghanistan, and that fact wouldn't change.

    2) McCain, unlike Obama, was actually born outside of the United States, and yet NOT A SINGLE PERSON ANYWHERE called for the same scrutiny of his birth records. Hmm.

    3) The election is over, move on.

Would this discussion be taking place if John McCain had won the Presidency?

For the fun of it, I was looking for the latest developments on this (non)issue, only to find a wingnut who actually believed that this page: Applying for Hawaiian Home Lands — Department of Hawaiian Home Lands proves that a certification of birth is not as viable as a certificate of birth, even though it says:

If the certificate was so important, then why do they not even issue them anymore? Hmm.

It seems odd that you are not a birther and yet think just like one.
He is not the only politician who won't show his records, but he is the only one that people are up in arms about. Hmm. If you really want to know, I will tell you what his transcript says: he passed. Happy?

What I don't understand is what birthers hope to accomplish by this. Even if they were right, what do they seriously think would happen? Do they think that the Supreme Court would declare that he's not president after all, or something? Or that suddenly Americans would rise up to burst into the White House and drag the Obamas out and dump them on the lawn?

Well, I though some people here could shed some light on something I might have been missing or at least say something insightful. So far all I have received is the standard birther comments. McCain was born on a US base btw, by the logic some are imposing all of or military personal that are stationed overseas with their families could never have children because they would not be US citzs. My whole issue on this why has he spent so much money fighting lawsuits that are just asking for him to show it. Now it is no longer the DNC's money he is spending but it’s the justice department’s money. Which means it is my money, so my whole thing it just show it. I would have voted for Obama over McCain any day if it was not for Ron Paul. I shall return under my rock for now. But it is nice to know members here can be so open minded. Why is it everones ok with him not showing his BC, heck I have to show my kids every year to get them in school. I have had to show it for work. What's wrong with asking about his. There are two things that get this sharp of a reaction. Questions about 9/11 and Obama's BC.

One last thing before I go under my rock, US immigration law at the time did not allow at US citizen to confer citizenship to a child if they were less than 18 years and six months of age if the father was not a US citizen. That’s why people want to see his birth records. Because there was no way he could have received citizenship from his mother or father. So those are hard facts we all can check. We know how old his mother is, we know his father’s citizenship and we know the law at the time. I truly believe he was born in the US. I just think they did some shady things to get him citizenship. Mind you all those laws are long changed but thats what they were at the time. Now anyone crossing....nevermind

And Obama was born in a US state.
    I repeat,
I am curious... if Obama is not legitimately a citizen of this country, of which country is he really a citizen?

I absolutely, however, agree with you when you said:
You forgot CNN and MSNBC... oh, and the fact that now Yahoo! thinks it is a reputable source of news  The only places that I can get my news and not cringe are BBC (for accuracy and scope) and NPR (for the real-life touch, balanced viewpoint, and documentary-style reporting)... also AP and Reuters tend to be both correct (I guess :\) and (usually) fair. Sadly, I hardly listen to or read of them because its the popular tabloid-ish local/world newspapers and radio that are most accessible to me.

The "certificate of live birth" is another name for "birth certificate" according to BOTH the head of the public health department in Hawaii AND the Governor of the state of Hawaii.

Furthermore, the Governor AND the head of the health department have BOTH stated, publicly, that the Certificate of Live Birth IS THE OFFICIAL RECORD OF BIRTH USED BY THE STATE OF HAWAII. When they computerized their records some 30 years ago, they stated issuing electronic certificates of live birth. The documents carry the same force, validity, and effect as the "birth certificates" or "certificates of live birth" issued by the other 49 states. Why the birthers (of which, in spite of your protestations to the contrary, you obviously are) can't get that through their heads is simply beyond human comprehension. THERE IS NO OTHER DOCUMENT. THE ONE THE STATE ISSUED, WHICH HAS BEEN SHOWN TO EVERYONE ON THE PLANET, IS A BIRTH CERTIFICATE. it's just called "certificate of live birth" instead of "birth certificate." Same exact document, slightly different name, get it?

No, of course you won't because you're a birther.

I'm surprised they haven't just amended the wording on the damn documents to shut up the birthers... but of course, then they'd find another excuse or argument.

I think God himself could appear and say "Yes, Barack Obama was born in Hawaii" and that STILL wouldn't shut up these loonies.
