Well, I caught the culprit. I have had Obama yard signs in the front of my yard for a month or two now. I noticed they started disappearing on Halloween. I immediately replaced them since I had about ten of them in my garage. Late last night I heard some noise in the front yard. I saw the shadow of a guy waiting for a good time to sneak up on my lawn. I snuck around the other side of the backyard, and grabbed him in a chock hold. After I could start to tell he was turning purple and fading out, I let up the pressure on his trachea. I turned around and saw someone who I thought was a well respected member of our community. I used to think he was my friend. I said "XXX what the hell are you doing? Do you know stealing political signs is a crime, I can have you arresed and embarrased in front of the whole neighborhood" He looked embarrased and said "I know, I am sorry, I don't know what got into me". I won't go into a whole exchange, but I let the guy go after I scared the crap out of him.

What the hell is going on? I guess you are only allowed to put up McCain/Plain signs? Our neighborhood is flooded with those, and I notice they are not disturbed. There is also a sea of yes on 8 signs. The level of hate and intolerence just baffles me. One thing for sure, you will not trample of my rights as an American.

Gotta go earn a living, see ya,

    Abner,

Two words: assault, battery. Seems like you got caught up in the hate and intolerance. I'm glad this election is almost over. Best of luck with the outcomes and future relations in the community.

I would have not touch the guy and would have him arrested and humiliated instead, now you both are officially enemies. But I guess you cancel each other out (since you touch him and he attempted to steal from you). At times there is little satisfaction in beating the crap out of someone (that is just primal instincts) but I get more satisfaction in what I can legally do to others when the try to piss me off!

Trust me, I did not beat the crap out of him. I merely restrained him. When I found out who it was, I released my grip. If I had not known him, I would have called the cops in an instant after restraining him. The guy begged me not to call the police, and he seemed really embarassed. I talked to his wife a couple of weeks ago, and she told me her husband has been drinking a lot lately due to being laid off. I actually feel sorry for the guy. I did not want to compound his problems.

After the incident, we agreed not to mention this incident to anyone. My intent is not to cause this guy harm. I just don't want my signs stolen OFF MY PROPERTY!

I wish everybody luck on their choice of candidate!

I have a right to restrain someone who is tresspassing and stealing. Restraining is much different from maiming. I did nothing wrong so I am not worried about my relations in the community.

Sorry, I did not imply you beat the hell out of him(although he deserve it), however, scary situation going to the yard without knowing who is out there, this could have been a arm individual, I could have restrained the guy without touching him, I have a tool that would have persuade him to stay still until the police arrived. But, it was lucky situation. I guess everyone reacts in different ways. The way I drill myself is call the police first, and if I have to react it would be justifiable. Anyway, his behavior is not acceptable, and that makes me wonder if he would have that same kindness you show him if you were in his shoes.

I wish I would have had the technical expertise to do that!

No matter what party, people need to respect each others opinions and properties.

I too had an Obama sign in my yard. Actually, two Obama signs. My first Obama sign (a white sign) disapppeared after one day. My neighbor, also an Obama supporter, later told me that he found an Obama sign in the back of his yard and it looked like someone had tried to snap it in half. My second Obama sign was a blue sign which the local Obama's Campaign for Change manager had given me on Election Day proivided I display it in my yard that day. Well, after having voted first thing in the morning and then volunteered all day calling to remind people to get out and rock the vote, I went home and my sign was still there. So, that's the start of my historical collection of political signs.

Four other houses in my neighborhood had their signs stolen. I immediately replaced them every time, out of my own wallet. I refuse to have my voice, or others voices silenced. You don't have to like my politics, but YOU WILL respect my property, and my right to express my opinion.

    God bless America!!

    Abner :)

P.S. Ted, good job on your volunteer work!!!

    LOL!

    Hey Abner,

Glad you didn't apply some Dim-Mak.

I think I would have been tempted to do so. BTW, in my area, here in southcentral Pennsylvania, people were stealing McCain/Palin signs.

Bruce Lee also had his sign stolen decades ago. Poor thief.
