This is not the first time an Obama supporter attacks a Mccain campaign volunteer.

"A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a “B” into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman’s car, Pittsburgh police said."

What's with these idiots that can't be civil? I thought smearing candidate's families on internet blogs was bad enough. I thought that stealing other people's political yard signs was bad enough. But taking a knife and cutting someone in the face solely because you don't like their political affiliation? What the hell has this country come to?

Do we know the attacker is a supporter of Senator Barack Obama? The article makes no reference to the attacker being a supporter of any particular candidate. However, it is a safe bet to say the attacker does not endorse Senator John McCain. The "B" could be "Barack" or "Bitch" or something else. Given the rage expressed by the attacker the latter seems more probable. Hopefully, the thug is apprehended and punished with his own branding Texas-style.

I heard that the police believes this story to be totally fabricated. However, if this story is true, then politics has resorted to a new all time low.

I knew that story was fraudulent.

Well, at least her imaginary attacker is an Obama supporter :p. "The woman also told police her attacker "called her a lot of names and stated that 'You are going to be a Barack supporter,' at which time she states he sat on her chest, pinning both her hands down with his knees, and scratched into her face a backward letter 'B' on the right side of her face using what she believed to be a very dull knife."

"Ashley Todd, 20, of College Park, Texas, will be charged with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor, and may face more charges, said police spokeswoman Diane Richard at a news conference."

Will the Republicans stop at nothing to win this election? This is not the time for political tomfoolery when the economy of the world is quite literally being flushed down the toilet.

So now that it's documented that your original post was both inaccurate and inflamatory, is it OK for me to create a thread saying

    McCain campaign volunteers are liars!

You were outraged when you made your original post and now you just want to laugh it off.

My opinion, this is not a political story. This is a story about a poor lady that is not in her right mind. If her original story were true I'd say the same thing only instead it would be a story about a poor victim that had been assualted by a 6' 4" man that was not in his right mind. Neither story would be a story about politics.

It most certainly IS about politics. A member of the McCain campaign was ahead of the story, notifying media outlets and characterizing it even before it was investigated (and, of course, debunked). The woman herself might have been twisted, but so was the McCain campaign for pushing it when it was an obvious fraud.

Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, trying to split the country in to pro- and anti-American segments, and now this. Typical living caricatures that, when placed under scrutiny, fall apart.

Vote JOE McCain. He tells it like he sees it!

Kizmet. I believed in what she claimed to have experienced and I was angered. It shows that I have compassion and I do. I don't like the fact that she lied, but I do not regret making my original post. I hope that this person gets the medical attention that she needs.

With all the negative stuff that is going on in this election, there is nothing wrong in venting with a little humor. This get tense at times, and this is a way for me to calm myself down.

"So now that it's documented that your original post was both inaccurate and inflamatory"

    - Inflamatory? No. Expressing what I believed was an accurate event.

"is it OK for me to create a thread saying"

    - Go ahead. But don't get upset when I call you out for making an inflammatory post. ---- >"McCain campaign volunteers are liars!"

Either story would be a very political story. Why would somebody knife someone in the face because of their political affiliation? Why would someone knife themselves in the face merely to falsely accuse a political opponent? Either one tells a story of a country where politics has become totally flippin' decadent.

There are lots of news stories out there every day. We know that many of them are just plain lies. Many others are spun so wildly that they do not even begin to reveal any sort of truth. You seized on the one that resonated with you and you made the assumption it was true because you wanted it to be true. You may be compassionate but you only posted the link to this story because you thought it was an anti-Obama story, not because it was a story of a women being hurt. Show me even one other story that you've linked because you were upset that someone was attacked.

"You seized on the one that resonated with you and you made the assumption it was true because you wanted it to be true."

    - Now it is my turn. Kizmit, I find your post personally offensive and inflammatory. You are a moderator, and I believe you are stepping over the line. How dare you insinuate that I only posted this link, not because it was a story of a women being hurt. You know absolutely nothing about me. I come from a family of political activists and politican's ( senators, mayors, and councilpersons ) who advocate for issues that are important to women. I am a son of a mother who died from cancer and stood in the emergency room as she was dying.

"Show me even one other story that you've linked because you were upset that someone was attacked."

    - I do not need to show you anything at this point. Who do you think you are.
