Did anyone else have a mental image of Bugs Bunny (or Elmer Fudd) when the news of Mr. Cheney's hunting exploits hit the news?

Not trying to minimize the seriousness of the injury, but c'mon......Veep blasts 78 year old lawyer in the face with birdshot?!? Leno and Letterman couldn't have asked for better!!

Hi Dave. Thanks for your post. I do not know what to think. Was he drunk? Some say he was. Some reports are now saying that he had some beers before.

Some even say that it was a message to Scooter Libby.

"A North Carolina columnist claimed today Dick Cheney's shooting of friend Harry Whittington was not an accident, but was meant to be a message to his former chief of staff, Scooter Libby, not to testify against the vice president in the Valerie Plame leak investigation."

I think it was probably an accident and alcoholic beverages were involved. I don't believe the official story of the 30 yards away stuff. With birdshot, and the wounds received, it's impossible.

Dave, if you want to see a funny picture of Cheney, not as Elmer Fudd, but funny still, go to http://www.rense.com/ and look in the top right hand corner. It's Deadeye Dick's Gun Club official poster.

I don't know about Leno or Letterman, but Jon Stewart on the Daily Show has been having some good stuff about this.

I like to think that Cheney wouldn't do something as incredibly stupid as drink alcohol before handling a firearm.

I hunted for years (no time anymore), and the ironclad rule was that the beer didn't come out until the guns were cleaned & put away, unloaded.

I am not being political in any way, but I first thought of Count Zaroff from "The Most Dangerous Game." You know, the story where the guy hunts humans for sport?? I could see Cheney in one of those old hunting congo hats. :D

Hey BinkWile, thanks for posting. I know you are joking with your post, but yesterday I was listening to Alex Jones' radio show and a caller commented on that very thing you said. Alex said he was only going to discuss things that could be proven and not rumours like that.

However, it is interesting and actually, other people are wondering if it could be true.

In fact, there is a book, " Trance Formation of America", where Cathy O'Brien makes claims against Cheney and others about all kinds of things. I have not read this book and don't really know anything about it or the author, other than what I just read at amazon and the author's webpage.

Robert Redford just recently stated that there is a "Watergate" going on everyday now.

I highly doubt that Vice President Cheney was hunting Mr. Whittington for sport. I just thought that would be funny. If anyone thinks that is the case, then they have been drinking too much coolaid!

Hi BinkWile. No I don't believe that Cheney was hunting humans or anything like that. I just thought it was interesting because you jokingly made that reference, and at the same time, there are some people that are seriously believing that. About that "Most Dangerous Game", I always pictured Cesar Romero as the hunter. lol

However, I do not believe the official story that Cheney was 30 yards away. Here's video of a shotgun test:

So now he is out of the hospital.

My question is now, will we still be bombarded by the news about this accident next week and in future weeks?

Rabbi Daniel Lapin writes "Iran wants to blow us to smithereens, American soldiers are fighting a deadly enemy in Iraq, and the central bank might raise interest rates – but many journalists consider only one piece of news worth reporting: Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot his friend in a hunting accident."

I love how Mr.Thompson doesnt name his source from the Secret Service. But of course you can trus a paper called "capitol hill BLUE" to be truthful and unbiased....

I have a source in the French government that says that John Kerry is selling American weapons to the Iranians who have teamed up with Islamofacist Martians.

Can i write for a newspaper too????
