I think some of us mentioned this at the time, but no one was listening. We were labeling anti-american scum. Despite how much evidence we had, like this letter:
    http://newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm

They had decided. They did it. Facts be damned. And now we pay and pay and pay for it.

I hate to say it, but it hard to take anything someone in the intelligence community has to say serious since they have this recent history of not doing such a bang up job.

More sour grapes....with political motivation. I hope they give Bush the free pass that Clinton gets in the papers after he leaves office....

I must agree Khan. Just like I said last year, these revelations/scandals will only increase.

    take care,

Yes, it seems strange how previously, some members called me names instead of discussing issues.

Thanks Bill for your posts and for being civil and for displaying manners, intelligience, and common sense. Thanks Khan and Abner and others for being well-mannered and having not so common sense.

Consider this: George W. Bush and Tony Blair considered staging a war provocation by painting a US spy plane in UN colors and flying it over Iraq, in the hope that Saddam would order it shot down, as a pretext for war. How about that?

    Here's some more interesting links:

"Revealed: Bush and Blair discussed using American Spyplane in UN colours to lure Saddam into war."

    http://politics.guardian.co.uk/iraq/story/0,,1700881,00.html

"A memo of a two-hour meeting between the two leaders at the White House on January 31 2003 - nearly two months before the invasion - reveals that Mr Bush made it clear the US intended to invade whether or not there was a second UN resolution and even if UN inspectors found no evidence of a banned Iraqi weapons programme."

" ...the 15-page memo also seems to lay a legal groundwork for the president to invade Iraq—without approval of Congress—long before the White House had publicly expressed any intent to do so. "

    To quote one article:

    President Bush said that:

"The US would put its full weight behind efforts to get another resolution and would 'twist arms' and 'even threaten'. But he had to say that if ultimately we failed, military action would follow anyway.''

That to me sounds like a "this is your oppurtunity to get on board" for the UN. dont forget that it was already clear that there were issues at the UN, like being crooked slime, that we were dealing with. Can anyone say "Oil for Food'. It was also obvious that our spineless "allies" were activily working against us and even briding africain countries to vote against us. The UN is really a teethless organization and pretty typical of an international community that hates us untill someone needs us to cut them a check, dig them out, feed them, fight the badguys or otherwise save the day!

For me this is all bunk anyway. The UN is not our govt, and we owe absolutley no explaination to anyone else for anything, regardless of who the president is. The last thing i want is to look at the rest of the world for ideas to run our country. People can say what they want, but even as screwed up as it can be here, its still better than anywere else....anywhere. Bush went to the UN to provide them with some legitmacy, not the other way around. We here in the USA dont need the United Nations AT ALL. It has my nomination for the biggest screwup organizaiton in the history on mankind.

It had been US policy for Regime change in Iraq since 93(?). The previous two administrations, Clinton and Bush Sr, had plans for removing him from office by force in place. This isnt anything that wouldnt be normal oppurating procedure, except maybe Bush followed up what he said with actual action. Does anyone here thing they dont have a plan on file to deal with that wackjob in North Korea??? or any other leader that Regime change is the policy.

The whole iraq debate is really meaningless now. We are there, and we will continue to finish the job, at least through 08. The real issue now is Iran, and isnt it funny how well positioned we are to deal with those crazies since we occupy countries on both the east and west borders.

I do agree with one thing...I hate name calling...To me its usually a sign that the debat is over and there is a clear victor.
    IMHO....

Hi Lou. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes I agree with you about the name calling. Wow, seems like degreeinfo is a much nicer place to post now.

I have no love for the UN either.

All I can say is, wow, it's so nice to be able to post and no one is name calling, instead there are members like Lou discussing issues nicely, even when we don't agree.

LoL, did the ones that acted silly all go to the new board? LoL!

Hey i can be vicious too!! Roar Roar...LOL

I love to argue myself, but it isnt personal. Sometime I joke about yall not being able to read or add, but most political view boil down to a view of the world, and how it has already affect you. It doesnt mean you dont love your country, although sometimes i do get confused.

This place is generally a great place for debate. Most of the time when someone comes along with total BS the whole group calls them on it. There was a clown here a couple of weeks ago spouting anti-everyone pro- mexicain racism with bad spanish. Very fun to watch the group pounce on him

    Take it easy jaq...
