Article ------------------------------ ADM Lefever is a great guy. I had the chance to meet him while working aboard the USS Cleveland and USS Tarawa this summer. He's the commander of the Expeditionary Strike Group 1. IMHO, this is how we should be winning hearts and minds and exporting some American goodness. We did the same thing in Jinotega, Nicaragua, where we used to take plywood and food to build an orphanage, a school and a hospital after the 98 Hurricane Mitch in that area. (funny sidenote: I was in a club in Stuttgart in 2000, and there's this techno song "Too Much Rain" by DJ ATB starting to play about that very incident: the intro is patched newscast voices in 3 or 4 languages recounting the incident briefly: "Amfang November 1998 zug ein häftiger Storm auf über Mittelamerika und es began zu regnen zu viel Regen über dem Paradis A comienzos de Noviembre de 1998 un huracán azotó Centro-América y comenzó a llover Demasiada lluvia sobre el paraíso At the beginning of November 1998 a huge and strong hurricane approached central America and it started raining Too much rain over paradise")
Whenever there is a disaster, anywhere in the world, the United States is the first to offer aid & support. Even after Chernobyl, the US offered help to their most dangerous and hated enemy, the Soviet Union. Yet, there are still those who burn our flag, and hang our President in effigy.
