    Bush Error

I believe this is going to blow-up in Bush's face.

    Why...

Poll after poll shows people do not give a crap about the so-called snooping. It is pure media hype, as such it will die as soon as the next media frenzy comes along.

Have you heard of Plame Gate lately? Nope, and you won't until (or if) any trials start. Personally, I think there won't be any trial as the case is week at best and if there is a trial he'll be let off....

    Re: Re: Time

It has been ugly for some time but it has been overshadowed by lesser matters. When we were debating the whole BS in Texas against DeLay I said that Delay had other things to worry about than the mickey mouse BS that penny ante DA was selling down in Austin. The reason it has been so quiet is because it is a bipartisan matter and no one wants to point fingers that can end up pointed right back at them.

I have to laugh, though, lately at the Dem's recent pathetic attempts to make it out to be only a Republican thing. Six Rep's/Senators in Illinois received money and it was evenly split between Dem and Rep. Worse, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Indian Affairs committee (which has been investigating Abramoff!!!) had to admit a few weeks ago that he had taken $65,000 in donations from Abramoff.

BTW, does anyone think this kind of thing is new? Heck no, as long as campaigns need to run on money there will be a need for donations and people buying access by making those donations.....

It's a good time to be a charity. All the politicians who took money from Abramoff are now giving it charities.

From Newsweek link above:"Bush was desperate to keep the Times from running this important story—which the paper had already inexplicably held for a year—because he knew that it would reveal him as a law-breaker. He insists he had 'legal authority derived from the Constitution and congressional resolution authorizing force.' But the Constitution explicitly requires the president to obey the law. And the post 9/11 congressional resolution authorizing 'all necessary force' in fighting terrorism was made in clear reference to military intervention. It did not scrap the Constitution and allow the president to do whatever he pleased in any area in the name of fighting terrorism." - Jonathan Alter.

    THIS is all a non-issue.

Technology of communications has changed by several generations since the nearly 30-years ago that FISA was written, as several authors of that law have noted.

Rather, the truth is any President who didn't use multi-plex data mining techniques at his disposal to ferret out terrorist threats to this nation would be impeachment candidates!
    (Details here http://amygdalagf.blogspot.com/2006/01/blue-in-face.html)
The Supremes have always upheld surveillance as a part of war, and under Article 2, the constitution authorizes the president to defend the people against threats to the nation.

Following the constitution is not a suicide pact: without life (ie, security), there can be no liberty to defend. Thus, there is a logical hierarchy to these matters (and don't bother quoting Franklin back at me - I can quote him myself: even Franklin can be quoted contradicting this vulgar isolationist cliche)!

The real issue is 'are there any penalities for disclosure of US intelligence secrets?' If the MSM has their way with their agenda driven jounralism (cf, the Plame case, Shehan, etc.), no. Obviously, neither the they nor Alter care about reality in their BDS.

The best commentary on Alter's manifest case of BDS (Bush Derangment Syndrone, for those who don't read Charles Krauthammer), see this response by Shrinkwrapped, a former liberal psychoanalyst, converted by 9/11.
    http://shrinkwrapped.blogs.com/blog/2006/01/liberalisms_alt.html
About Alter, the good Doctor concludes "it could not be any clearer that the left, in their desperation to regain power and their rage at being ignored, is willing to risk your life and mine in order to harm their own country, simply because it is no longer being run by them. The danger their ongoing efforts pose to our country is mounting and the danger to themselves remains unrecognized." Amen, brother.

Meanwhile, I'm taking up the wearing of a swastika emblzoned sweatshirt, just make the loonie-Left's insanity clearer. If youn care to join me in outing manifest BS, joine me!

Hey, maybe it will help with the donor fatigue the charities have been talking about.....
