Guess Jane Fonda's apology about her traitorous activities during the Viet Nam War and her comments about American soldiers was short-lived.

Now, I did not support that war and it created major conflict between my father (WW II and Korean Vet) and me. However, I felt her and Ramsey Clark's actions were wrong at the time.

    Yes. They were.

Speaking out against the government's policy is one thing. Travelling to North Viet Nam and celebrating the deaths of American servicemen with the North Viet Namese was another thing entirely.

I am still shocked and angry when I think about it.

    Nosborne,

You are about the most fair and intellectually honest liberal I have come across in a very long time!

Jane Fonda should have been arrested for Treason the moment she set foot back in the US after returning from North Vietnam.

The main purpose of the military is to kill the enemy and destroy their equipment and infrastructure. Jane has apparently never grasped that concept.

I agree. Her apology is like promises of amendment by a vicious & irresponsible poster: not worth the electrons they're written on.

While I disagree with what she did (I am old enough to remember going to the funeral of several of my classmates parents and I was only four.), I also disagree with your conclusion. If she was to be sent to jail for treason so would have been most of the protesters back in the mainland. The sixties were a very divisive decade; I hope this never happens again.

    Good one Uncle. Good one!

I also hope that it isn't happening again but I'm very much afraid that it IS.

The anti-war protestors on the mainland, as misguided as I think they were, were exercising thier First Amendment rights. That's not only legal, I think it's healthy.

Jane Fonda traveled to an enemy country during a time of war, posed for propaganda photos, and made radio broadcasts bashing the United States, and praising North Vietnam.

If that isn't giving aid & comfort to the enemy, then nothing is.

I do not strenuously disagree with my fellow members who have heaped fault onto Ms. Fonda. My own position is somewhat different. Because I find her to be unintelligent and inarticulate, and because I find her to be desperately seeking of attention I really don't care what she says. She is a non-entity. The people who rally to her call already believe what she says. She is a troll. Your protests only bring her the attention she craves. She influences nothing. So who cares?

I don't think Ramsey or Fonda are traitors. Traitor is a word being used way too much. It should be left for those who have actually compromised in a real way national security resulting in a death.

Fonda is an opportunist - her apology was only to sell books. Personally if I don't like someone - especially a enterainer, I don't see their movies - buy their books - or see their concerts. I really don't care about her apology either. As far as I am concerned, she can pound salt. But a traitor - not a chance.

Ramsey - I think it is important for Saddam to have a fair trail. If we are really about spreading our brand of democracy, then this is a real good start. The fact that Ramsey - a very talented lawyer is defending Saddam - a person who IMHO is guilty as sin is important to getting the real message across that we ar a nation of laws. A traitor - hardly. If anyone is a traitor is it Cheney.

Yes indeed, Miss Fonda is a troll. But unlike trolls closer to home, she has no ability to mislead and confuse newcomers to a certain field of enquiry, nor to abuse responsible participants in the public discussion of that field of enquiry.

Not only is Clark a traitor, he was the worst attorney general this country ever had. And that says a lot when we put Janet Reno and John Ashcroft into the equation.

Best U.S. A.G. in history? RFK!

Clark would have defended Hitler and Stalin had he been in practice at the time. He never, ever has anything good to say about America, never.

I challenge one person to show me one quote where Clark has said anything good or positive about America. If anyone can do so, I will retract my negative comments about him. Fair enough?

Believe it or not, I don't remember ever hearing of this man and I love politics and used to be a Quaker.

Guess I don't know everything. What a blow to my ego! :D
