Looks as if Romney is gearing up for a White House run.

Jimmy - I think that Romney has his eye on the White House but he has such a small amount of public service and such a small amount of national exposure that I've got him billed as one of the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players." What would you think about a Giuliani/Romney ticket? or a McCain/Romney ticket?

    Jack,

I lost respect for McCain when he waffled on a few issues running in '02 and now waffling somewhat as he prepares for a run in '08.

Giuliani I am not sure about. He was an excellent mayor but I am not sure he could win the GOP nomination.

Romney is a good man. He waffles slightly now that he is thinking about an '08 run but he is still pretty decent.

And, he is articulate, handsome (58 and looks 45), and a very good debater. He has basic core values and principles I like but again, the waffling disturbs me.

An idea ticket, from your neck of the woods, would be a Romney-Shays ticket. Chris Shays has outstanding credentials and values.

However, such a ticket would never be formed. It certainly would not be geographically balanced.

If the Libertarians don't nominate someone of the caliber of their 1980 nominee or their '00 and '04 nominees, I will vote for Romney if he is the nominee.

Romney, Rice, and maybe Hagel (waffling a little too) are about the only GOP candidates I'd vote for at this point.

If no GOP or Libertarian candidate running is to my liking, I'd vote Lieberman if he were the Dem nominee.

Webster Brooks is an interesting candidate.

Romney will be a player in 2008, but I agree with Jack that he won't be the Presidential nominee. He's tailor-made for the VP slot, or maybe a Cabinet position.

I believe his decision to not seek re-election is a mistake. I think being a sitting Governor plays better on the national stage than being a former Governor.

McCain was reelected to the Senate in 2004 and ran for president in 2000.

Yea, I know, just a typo. Thanks for the correction, however.
