Former President Gerald Ford has been admitted to Eisenhower Medical Center. No other details are available.

Always liked Ford. He's a decent, moral guy!

Didn't vote for him in 1976. Was a big Jimmy Carter fan.

Looking back, however, if I had it to do all over again, I would vote for Ford.

I was never impressed by Ford - the WIN buttons did nothing for me.

(he does play a mean game of golf - even at 92)

Oh yea, I had a bunch of those ("Whip Inflation Now) buttons.

This was one reason I voted for Carter. The economy was not that great. Little did I know it would get much worse under the Peanut Farmer!

Aren't those the buttons you were supposed to turn upside down and make them into NIM (No Immediate Miracles) buttons?

Hmm. Jerry Ford? Wasn't he the golfer that used to keep bonking people in the noggin with his golf ball?

Yea, and he fell all the time. His press secretary issued a press statement titled "Gerald Ford, the Most Coordinated President in History."

Still, all in all, Ford is a decent man and was very well respected in the Congress.

Once while playing college football, he played a southern team. One of Ford's teammates, a black, tackled an opponent. The opponent called him the "n" word. Ford heard it and got into a fight with the guy!

I'm sure most people who voted in 1976 would agree with you.

Gerald Ford is also the answer to a good trivia question, which is; Who was the only President to have never won a Presidential or Vice-Presidential election?

Remember when Ronald Reagan wanted Ford to be his Vice-Presidential running mate in 1980?

No, I didn't. I do remember Reagan wanting Ford to accept a deal in 1976: He would not seek the nomination if Ford would make him VP and would actually have a co-presidency.

    Ford was Reagan's first VP choice, and actually offered him the position. I remember it vividly, because I remember Ford's statement to the media (paraphrased);

"When you've been Number One, Number Two just isn't appealing anymore". :D

Kind of a reverse of what Humphrey said when asked why he thought he could end the Viet Nam War when the Johnson-Humphrey Admin couldn't:

"There's a difference between being a member of the team and being the captain of the team."

Regardless of partisan differences, I wish President Ford a long life with as much quality as God sees fit. Glad to see he is doing better.
