Hi all. I don't know anything about Doug Thompson or Capitol Hill Blue. But I just think that if this story is true, what is upsetting to me, is not that the President used what are to some curse words, but the supposed attitude toward the Constitution. OK, I'm not saying that this is true, I'm just saying that if it is true, it's not a good thing for the Constitution to be thought of as worthless, as this can be construed, in my opinion.

    Here's an abstract:

"Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act...“I don’t give a @@@@@@,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a @@@@@@@@ piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a @@@@@@@@ piece of paper.”

Also, back in June there was this story:

    http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20050613-102755-6408r.htm

"A former Bush team member during his first administration is now voicing serious doubts about the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9-11. Former chief economist for the Department of Labor during President George W. Bush's first term Morgan Reynolds comments that the official story about the collapse of the WTC is "bogus" and that it is more likely that a controlled demolition destroyed the Twin Towers and adjacent Building No. 7. Reynolds, who also served as director of the Criminal Justice Center at the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas and is now professor emeritus at Texas A&M University said, "If demolition destroyed three steel skyscrapers at the World Trade Center on 9/11, then the case for an 'inside job' and a government attack on America would be compelling." Reynolds commented from his Texas A&M office, "It is hard to exaggerate the importance of a scientific debate over the cause of the collapse of the twin towers and building 7. If the official wisdom on the collapses is wrong, as I believe it is, then policy based on such erroneous engineering analysis is not likely to be correct either. The government's collapse theory is highly vulnerable on its own terms. Only professional demolition appears to account for the full range of facts associated with the collapse of the three buildings."

So, what's going on with President Bush and his administration?

I don't know. It does cause great concern for me and I do find these and other stories interesting. I'm not saying that they are true. I have no idea. I also think that we should be able to discuss things without argumentum ad hominem arguements.

But I'm not the only one wondering what is going on. And perhaps all of us should always question everything. I don't know if these and other stories are true. Ok? But they do concern me.

"When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic." Dresden James

"Sometimes the majority only means that all the fools are on the same side." Unknown

"A man may be an heretic in the truth, and if he believe things only because his pastor says so, or the assembly so determines, without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, yet the very truth he holds becomes his heresy." F.W. Farrar

Stories of Bush using profanities have been publicized for years.

However, even his most ardent political enemies have stated, when in intense discussions with him on controversial issues, they never heard him use such language in any meeting they had with him.

This is all about trying to show Bush as being a hypocrite since he professes Chrisitanity.

    Um.

I don't know about YOU guys, but I SAW (on TV, to be sure, but c'mon!) I SAW the second airplane flying into the towers.

I have also seen the hole where the towers were, and that NOT on TV.

I also saw the towers BEFORE 9/11, ALSO not on TV.

    C'mon!

As to the President's attitude toward teh constitution...I am willing to believe that he is from time to time impatient with the limits on his power. So was FDR. So was Lincoln. But to ME, since I believe that the constitution is a LIVING DOCUMENT, it is entirely RIGHT to reinterpret its provisions to meet changing circumstances.

    (little fauss, where are you?)

Besides, El Presidente actually SAID (regarding the Iraqi elections) that it wouldn't be right to put his "thumb on the scales." Oddly, considering my deep and abiding hatred of the man and his Administration, I believe that he meant it.

That's one of the many reasons I like him, he's a genuine person. I know he doesn't drink anymore, but he's the #1 living person with whom I'd love to split a six-pack with. Ronald Reagan is #1 all-time.

From what I've read, the most profane President in recent memory was LBJ, especially after enjoying some adult beverages, as he was known to do.

With Truman and Nixon very, very close behind.

Perhaps Carter and Ford may be the least profane in modern times.

It's too early to mention Bush. We just don't have enough papers and tapes from his administration yet.
