A Satanist is running for governor of MN and has registered with the FEC to run for president in '08.

So if he wins in his bid for the Governors seat, is he addressed as "Governor" or as "The Dark Count?"

Good question but I don't think we will have to worry about his being elected.

On the other hand, if we can have the "Governator," I guess we can have the "Darkanator," or the "Countenator," or the "Dark Countenator."

At least he's honest. We know he wants our blood. :D

As long as he doesn't want my money.

Where's Jesse Ventura when you need him?

He may be getting ready for an independent run for president on the Independence Party ticket.

Does this add new meaning to the old saying "Vote for the Devil you know, rather than the Devil you don't know."???

Maybe they could use that as their party tagline.

Yea, at least there's an honesty here.

Would there be anything wrong with having a Satanist governor or a Satanist president, provided that he did not establish Satanism as the official religion of the state or the country?

Employing common sense and reason, your question answers itself.

    Whew!

    What a RELIEF!

I thought you said a STALINIST was running for Governor!

In any event the chance of a Satanist Governor imposing his religion on the country is considerably smaller than the chance that some fundamentalist Christian will manage to impose HIS religion on the rest of us...

    And you'd be upset?

Just kidding, Nosborne, seriously, just kidding. ;)

Gee! Did it answer itself "yes" or "no"?

So, are you admitting you don't have common sense and and cannot reason? :D

No, I'm saying that I did employ common sense and reason and the question did not answer itself.

Anyone who calls himself "the educated derelict" leaves himself open to jest. I appreciate your posts and your willingness to engage my poor attempts at levity.

Seriously, I think a Satanist would be a disaster. I think he would attempt to run the state govenment on the principles of Satan as expressed in Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible which I think would be very, very dangerous.

Thanks Ted, for the fun. You're a very good sport!

Well, the epithet "Theo the Educated Derelict" arises from the fact that I'm a terminal screw-up who has washed out of four attempted master's degrees in history and one attempted master of divinity degree.
