No, this thread isn't about the President.

Am I the only one who thinks Al Quaida in Iraq committed a MAJOR blunder in bombing the hotels in Amman?

These terrorists have had extensive support among the Arab Muslim populations in the Middle East. But NOW? I wonder.

Think of it: Muslims pressuring their own governments to junt down and root out terrorists in their own countries!

And NO, I do NOT think that the CIA did the bombing and planted the "credit statement". I wouldn't put it PAST them, but I don't think so this time.

What, now you're advising the enemy? Do you think destroying the WTC was a blunder?

Yes, of course it was! In every possible way, 9/11 was a blunder, not to mention a horrific crime.

But these folks don't look to the U.S. population for their support and concealment.

What I'm thinking is, they are making enemies of whole populations that are close to home.

    Just jabbin' ya Nosborne.

...but seriously, I don't think it's about race or nationality with these crazies. I think they feel like anyone who doesn't share their militant radical beliefs is their enemy. Everytime a car bomb goes off in Iraq, there are far more Iraqis killed than Americans or anyone else. At this point, I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to their attacks or if they just pick the most opportune targets. Like you said, what could they have possibly had to gain strategically by bombing Jordan.

...unless, like they did in Spain, they're trying to bully the Jordanians into stonger opposition to the war.

Nosborne, the fact is that Al Qaeda has killed way more Muslims that Westerners. Probably the proportion is ten to one (IIRC), including those who got killed at the WTC.

Gkillion, there was a strong opposition to the war in Spain before those atrocities in Madrid. And it is not clear at all that Al Qaeda had anything to do with that massacre, unless Al Qaeda is a franchise, and all Islamic fanatics utilize the brand as an umbrella under which they all operate. In fact, as it turns out, there were many people and groups who were interested in a government change in Spain (France, Morocco, AL Qaeda, the various Spanish nationalists, etc,…). Coincidentally, yesterday Spain signed a defense agreement with France, something that would have NEVER EVER happened without the train killings and with a conservative government in Madrid.
