Those are the diplomatic and tactful words by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, who is trying to convince the civilized world his country needs nuclear power.

I wonder why they are waiting this long to level the entire nuclear facility to the ground.

I have said it before. I know who my enemy is because he tells me so every day.

Let's see if ANY of the Arab Muslim governments distance themselves from this man's rhetoric.

Bet they don't. Or if they do, they will do so in English and not Arabic.

    They do that.

This is so sad, but an old, old story. Not quite as old as the dawn of time, but . . .

The true nature of the Muslim world

The Jerusalem Post reports that high officials of both Egypt and Jordan (both of whom have signed peace treaties with Israel) have actually ANNOUNCED that their respective governments have no comment to make.

    Think of that.

A call for total war against Israel to include the entire Muslim world, to end in genocide, and these states have no comment to make.

To their credit, various European governments have sent strong protests through diplomatic channels. Boy, that'll show those Persians!

I don't actually KNOW whether Israel has nuclear weapons but I sure hope so.

Re: The true nature of the Muslim world

Yeah, those Persians must have been shaking their legs when they heard that...... You might not know it but, us, EU taxpayers, we actually subsidize the PLO (or so we thought. It turns out that the Rais kept those funds for himself. His wife rode Testarrossa´s and "wore" the best French and Swiss plastic surgeons)

What I sure hope is that those nuclear plants are destroyed asap.

The true pity is to realize that Israel can only exist if the US supports it. Weeks ago Bush said that Muslism want to build an Empire from Spain to Indonesia and no one believed it or even paid really attention to that. I hope those words help many clarify what many Muslim´s real intentions are. This is a problems that has no solution, not even in the long term, and it will still cost thousands of lives. It doesn´t matter. He will get away with that disgusting statement anyway, and tomorrow only a few of us will remember it. Nuclear activity certainly will resume. It would be terrible news if this country ever becomes a nuclear power.

Okay, I think it's time for everyone to step-back, take a deep breath, and tone-down the rhetoric.

    Told you so.

aljazeera and the Jerusalem Post report the story the same way.

Pretty hard to claim that the J.Post article is biased or inaccurate.

    Silence.

Some academic and business voices protest the speech but not because of the immorality of the call to arms but because it isn't good for the Muslim world.

My God. What will it take, I wonder? Bombs falling on Tel Aviv?

Over here those words by the Iranian president have caused dismay, disbelief, and anger. I don´t know if it´s customary in that part of the world, but this man should resign.

I went to Aljazeera´s web page hoping to find an explanation, to find that perhaps it was a poor translation or a simple misundertanding. Nope. He said it, and his Arab counterparts keep silent as if they were conceding.

"The true pity is to realize that Israel can only exist if the US supports it."

I vaguely recall the 7-day war that proved this statement wrong.

  16. Actually, it was the "6 Day War" which occurred in 1967....

And, even at that time, Israel's army was stocked with Western equipment (US, British, French) that gave them the edge over the poorly coordinated and equipped (generally with Soviet supplied tanks, etc.) of the Arab forces opposing them.

I'm gonna stick to the facts now, since my opinions on how to handle the Muslim world are apparently offensive to many, no matter how true they in fact turn out to be. Be forewarned - this problem is not going to go away until we have utterly defeated Islam in a cataclysmic confrontation similar to the great battles of WWII. Maybe that statement is also offensive to the PC crowd that can't stomach the truth here?

I just watched a movie called "Kingdom of Heaven". To me it was an good film with an overindulged budget. But that is not the point. The point is that it got me thinking about how little progress have we, humanity, made in a thousand some years. I have very close friends that are both Jewish and Muslim. None of them have problems with each other. Yet, when it comes to the Christian, Muslim and Jewish states the story seems to be so much similar to the story in the movie.

This issue becomes increasingly difficult for me as my grand parents (from Bethlehem) on my father side were a Palestinian, Greek Orthodox (not Muslim) couple that immigrated to America before the state of Israel was formed. My grand father used to tell me stories about how during the British occupation no one cared if you were Christian, Jewish, or Muslim. His best friend in school was Jewish and his neighbor was Muslim.

I just can not stomach anymore the level of hate on all sides this situation has ignited. That is the opinion of one leader. I don't disagree with the fact that it echoes a sentiment in most of the Muslim world. But to say this idiot will bring World War III upon us may be a bit too much.

Well, Miguel, that "idiot" is on his way to acquire nuclear weapons that could literally wiped Israel off the maps. Whether or not that is enough to trigger a Third World War I don’t know. But several millions lives could be at stake if those weapons get into this “idiot’s “ hands. The worst mistake is to underestimate your enemy. History has taught us a lot of examples in this direction. Who could think just a few years ago that a bunch of Bedouins could successfully attack the heart of the West?

    Vengeance is mine...

One of the wisest men I know (my father) would say this:

The Jews are God's people and as such will suffer persecution until the end of days. The book of Revelation will also show what has passed and will come to pass.

Those of us who believe in an afterlife can find comfort in the fact that people that talk and act against the state of Israel in this manner will meet their judgement in good time.

Peace (in the next world if not here),

Personally, I'd like to help the Lord out a bit in hustling this up, in THIS life..... where we can taste the sweet nectar of just revenge against the enemies of all mankind.
