Indeed. Well, it just shows ta' go ya' that not all Republicans in Washington, DC have their heads up their asses. Umm... as I think about it, it's probably worth adding -- not because I think it's politically expedient but, in fact, because I honestly believe it's true -- that not all Republicans at DegreeInfo have their heads in such a place, either.

First, Hagel wants to be President.

Second, there have always been independent-minded thinkers in the GOP. During Vietnam, President Nixon was criticized by members of his own party--Senator William Saxbe of Ohio said the President "has taken leave of his senses" when Nixon resumed the bomibing of Vietnam in 1972.

California GOP Congressman Pete McCloskey challenged Nixon in some primaries. McCloskey was against the war.

Ohio Congressman John Ashbrook also challenged Nixon in the 1972 primaries and attacked Nixon's handling of the war from the right.

Republicans have never marched in lock-step and never will.

I guess it's too early for the right to come up with the next Swift Boat Veterans for Lying to call this hero a fraud. Stay tuned.

Kerry was and is a fraud. That has been proven time and time again.

Hagel is a hero. McCain is a hero. JFK (Dem.) was a hero. Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey (Dem.) is a hero.

See, one has to be fair and balanced, not a partisan or an idealogue.

Both parties have heroes in them and both parties have frauds within their ranks.

Political fanaticism is dangerous. Try to be fair. Try to be objective. You will be much happier and less stressed.

I'm a fanatic now Rev.? When did that happen. I must have been out of town. And I'm the least stressed person I know.

    Hi Rev.

I saw a show last year on 20 20 or CSPAN? Well, it was one of these two shows. Anyway, Investigative reporters went over to Vietnam. They wanted to ascertain whether the Swift Boat Veterans claims were true. Basically, the SBV's were claiming that Kerry was accidently grazed and the battle did not happen they way the Military report read.

The findings of this investigation showed some SBV's went over to Vietnam trying to pay off some of the villagers were the battle occured. These people (Villagers) said they could not do that because it would be a lie. Their are actually villagers still living in Vietnam who saw John Kerry in Action and corroborated the events. I believe he drove his Swift Boat directly into the line of enemy fire and then killed the attackers. I will not rehash all of the events.

Rev., I have respect for you as a man of God. But it seems to me the real fanatics are groups llike the SBV's. I am sure you will disagree with what I have written, and that's ok. I will still like you:)

I meant to say groups like the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, specifically.

They witnessed the event so closely as to be able to identify Kerry? And after so many years? How gullible be you, Abner?

Don't respect me because I am a minister, respect me as a simple human being.

No, I don't completely disagree. I think the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth had an agenda and would have done, and probably did, anything to further that agenda.

However, I know enough about Kerry, based on his words, record, compromises, political maneuvering, contradictions, etc., to know he is a fake and a phony.

People within his own party who touted him as an honorable man and a good candidate, lambasted him after the election, blaming him for the Democrats defeat.

I have read enough of your political posts to know you are an idealogue who has never said anying nice or kind about any Republican. Your posts are 100% pro-Democratic and 100% anti-Republican.

That makes you an idealogue and, in the opinions of some, a fanatic who fails to be objective.

If I am wrong, I will openly and publically apologize to you on this forum.

My feelings for you exactly. I've tried to be respectful of you since you're a reverend, but that time has passed.

Gee, Ive asked you to show me proof positive I was wrong and you haven't. Instead you dismiss my offer to prove me wrong by saying you don't respect me. Ah! Such is the fate of one who attempts to be fair.

Exactly, don't be condesceding Decimon. Or are you saying 20 20 had some kind of conspiracy in mind? Please.

I'm saying that I spent an entire year in Vietnam and I'm guessing the number of Vietnamese to recognize me would be...zero. I doubt that many, if any, of the guys I served with would recognize me.

But some Vietnamese who witnessed some helmeted Americans in a firefight are going to recognize Kerry? That's dien cai dao.
