How do you blow the cover....

of someone who is openly working out of Langley? Don't believe the hype people. The press has, as usual, blown this way out of proportion...

Bush would serve himself well to fire Rove.

He's Dean, Mitchell, Ehrlichman, Liddy, Haldeman, and Hunt all rolled into one person!

    What is "the buzz"? Rumors?

It's amazing how everybody pretends to have inside secret information.

My opinion is that if classified information was leaked from the CIA, then the leakers should be identified and prosecuted. What's more, those journalists who received the information and knowingly publicized it should be prosecuted.

Usually we have to have these annoying things called "trials" first.

It's up to the courts to decide on guilt and punishment.

    But...

If we decide to take that course, then we have to treat it as a matter of principle and resolve to take a hard line every time that leaks of classified information happen. We can't just demand people's heads on a plate when we think that it will embarrass our political enemies.

We have to recognize that prosecuting leaks puts whistleblowers at risk. And we have to recognize that prosecuting journalists ignores all the immunities that they so self-righteously claim, whether real or imagined.

Personally, I prefer a simple denunciation before the Courts of Revolutionary Tribunal (Bush 43 isn't smart enough to drag KR before the Courts of Star Chamber), but maybe we could give him a show trial.

    You Know,

I always wonder why people would ever insinuate the President is stupid. It is clearly untrue and makes them look like an ideologue. Similiarly it makes their party and positions look equally silly. Have we become so polarized we can't disagree with out ridicule?

Of course not! I should have remembered Bush 43 ain't as stupid as he looks ... he just wants it to look that way so the average common lump will see him as the guy you'd like to have a brewsky with.

Come to think of it, I probably should have said that Bush43 is too smart to drag Karl Rove before Star Chamber. After all, why would the king want to drag his king-maker to his destruction?

    You Know,

It is arguments like this that make democrates look so out of touch and desperate. I would guess many, perhaps most, think President Bush doesn't look stupid. And, if he did, what kind of person makes this kind of comment? Do democrates have so little on the ball the best they can do is character assassination?

I prefer to let the courts deterimine guilt. Karl Rove has always been, and always will be a first class douchbag. He makes Clinton and Nixon look like chiorboys in comparison. Even his fellow Cons don't think much of him.

I would love to see this man be publically disgraced.

I would however like to see the evidence - short of that - treason seems a bit drastic. I have found that people like Karl (much like Gingrich) self destruct under their own bullshit so no matter how Karl is outed, he will eventually be put out to pasture.

    1. You are assuming I am republican. I hope your mother taught you about people who do that.

    2. Do you see everyone who disagrees with you as less intelligent?

    3. Do you often try to change topics in discussions?

    But see this:
(Hat tip: John Podhoretz (link below):
Matt Cooper of Time Magazine was preparing a story on Joseph C. Wilson's CIA-sponsored trip to Africa. Cooper spoke to Karl Rove. Presumably he talked to other people. Period. Cooper's story never appeared. Lawrence O'Donnell said Newsweek was going to say "It's Rove" who "outed" Wilson's undercover-CIA-agent wife Valerie Plame. But Newsweek's story doesn't say that. It only says Rove spoke to Cooper, and Rove's lawyer Robert Luskin offers a complete and flat denial that Rove said anything about Valerie Plame:

"Luskin told NEWSWEEK that Rove 'never knowingly disclosed classified information' and that 'he did not tell any reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA.' Luskin declined, however, to discuss any other details. He did say that Rove himself had testified before the grand jury 'two or three times' and signed a waiver authorizing reporters to testify about their conversations with him. 'He has answered every question that has been put to him about his conversations with Cooper and anybody else,' Luskin said."

    Concludes John Podhoretz here:
"Seems to me that unless Luskin is lying, Rove is in the clear. "

Her husband's behaviour after the alleged leak seems to me to preclude a charge of capital treason.

    1. I figured if you were one of the "democrates," you would have known that it is spelled "Democrats." So, that is why I guessed you to be one of those "republicanes."

    2. Do you always characterize those who disagree with you as desperate, having little on the ball, ideologues, out of touch, and silly?

    3. No.

    Hi Ted

Come on man! There are more than two parties in the U.S.! And, to answer your question, yes I do assume people who try to change the topic and attack people's looks as opposed to discussing ideas are ideologues and desperate. Silly I reserve for DEMOCRAT ideologues :D

NY Times reporter Judith Miller, who did not reveal the Valerie Plame CIA connection to the public, has been jailed. Robert Novak, who did reveal this connection is free. (I realize this jailing is for contempt of court.)
We need a national shield law. The press, as the fourth estate, adds to the checks and balances features of our form of government.

Who will accredit the journalists? How do you qualify for the shield?

First amendments rights were meant for every U.S. citizen.

Gosh! Will the government be in the business of accrediting journalists (or at least accrediting the accrediting agencies that accredit the journalists)?
