I was a little disturbed by Dr. Dean's claim that many Republicans have never made an honest living. The implication's just not true; has never BEEN true, though I suppose that the charge is technically correct; large numbers of Americans of all political pursuasions have "never made an honest living".

Certainly my Hoover era Republican grandfather and my Eisenhower era Republican father both worked hard and honestly all their lives and even I voted (once) for a Republican presidential candidate (Nixon '72).

At the time, I had never made a living, honest or otherwise, having just graduated High School!

The crack about an honest living was below the belt. However, maybe it's time for Democrats to stop taking the high road all the time. Republicans have no qualms about characterizing them as a bunch of terrorist-sympathizing, baby-killing, welfare-cheating, Jesus-hating sexual perverts. In Georgia I saw the way they attacked Max Cleland and it was just shocking.

Dick Cheney went on Fox News right after and said about Dean: "Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does." Can you imagine if Dean had said that about Cheney? At least Dean doesn't go around telling people to "f*** off" like Cheney does.

I have but one word to describe Cheney. Dick.

I think Howard Dean is stupendous. What a boon for the Republican party.

    ???

Surely you jest. When did they start taking the high road? When have they in the last 15 years? This is not your father's Democratic party. This is a whole new animal--emphasis on "animal".

I've never called Republicans names - unlike the ones I've been called, including some on this board.

And who, praytell, called Mr. Cheney (or any other Republican) names?

Broheim is an Old California skateboarder expression from the 80's, it's kind of like saying brother.

    See ya,

Thanks for telling me, buddy! I'm way too old to be familiar with skateboarder lingo, and way too chicken-sh*t to get on a skateboard as I'd likely break about 206 bones (of my own, that is - not sure how many of other people's bones I'd break if I were foolish enough to try skateboarding at my age and in my physical condition).

Besides being old and ugly, I am also incredibly clumsy and unco-ordinated.
